Returning old passports + update SSN/DMV before traveling with new US passport

Hello,

After the Oath, I apply for passport along with original NC.

Once I get US passport, do I need to immediately return the old passport to my country of birth's consulate before I travel oversees (to say third country)?
How do I notify them that I have now become US citizen?

Secondly, do I need to update SSN/DMV etc before I make an international trip?

You have to follow the rules of your previous country of citizenship when it comes to their passports. But if you've had them all this time, you can probably keep them. The US has nothing to do with those. You can travel as soon as you get your US passport. Updating SS and DMV records has nothing to do with that. Also, you might qualify for dual citizenship, or have you already looked into that?
 
Nope, you can keep your old passports. But of course, dual citizenship is out of the question. You'll just have to have your most recent passport canceled when you apply for your surrender certificate, but then it's yours to keep.
 
Yeah you lose indian citizenship upon Naturalization, and have to turn that in to have it cancelled as Indian law does not allow dual nationality.

I plan to do this while applying for OCI/PIO card upon my return to US.

Well, I think you have to get a surrender certificate within a certain number of days after you take your oath or they impose an extra fee, if I'm not wrong. So, do that, and you can travel at the same time. Then you'll be ready to apply for OCI whenever. Just take care of the SC as soon as you can. Travel to places other than India can start as soon as you get your US passport.

----------------- Before you apply OCI/PIO/Entry Visa for India you need to first get the Indian Passport cancelled (they Stamp the passport Cancelled and will return the passport) and get surrender certificate.surrender certificate is MUST to apply for OCI or PIO or Entry visa for India.
