Bro what you did is so wrong!! i tried to do that and asked 2 different attorneys and told me that's not legit and only Refugee travel document works for asylees even after the GC and that in the citizenship exam the USCIS officer willhave doubts that you used your national passport cause no one use the Reentry permit as a passport for asylees but its only used if you plan to stay for more than 6 months out of the states! good luck but you should've asked an attoreny first before doing that.
 
This is done all the time. I used the RP as soon as I learned that I could, and naturalised without issues (I had other issues, not this). If you check the forum, you will see many others have done this too, because it is definitely allowed.

If you passed it that doesn’t mean it’s gonna happen with everyone else! That’s so known fact when it comes to the immigration journey! I told him what the attorneys said and as i mentioned earlier they said it might get you many questions regarding it they didn’t say you will definitely be in trouble! Good luck to everyone

Yes I expedited RTD before and it was through the congressman the reason was my blood pressure to high because of the stress. I sent BP records and was approved less than 2 weeks after that

This was before the covid 19 era as well. Since I had to travel internationally for work quite a few times, I used to apply for it 4-5 months in advance. I also preferred reentry permit since it’s valid for 2 years. Once I didn’t get it for around 4 months and I had upcoming travel so I expedited it using company letter. They sent it in a week after receiving the letter. In all I got 4 travel documents between the time from asylum to citizenship - 2 RTDs and 2 RPs.

Can you tell me more about your citizenship process? How was the interview? Did they ask you about your home country passport and trips?

Hey All, I think this is the right place for this post. I want to renew my RTD and I'm a green card holder through asylum. I have few questions and I would appreciate any help:
- What Should I include in my application?
I have checked around and this is what I got: Application i-131, copy of the green card, copy of the green card notice, copy of the RTD in case its expired and the actual one if its not yet expired, 2 passport photos. What else? am I missing anything?
- What should i put in the space" Class of Admission"?
I checked as well but I found 2 answers 1- Asylee and 2- Permanent Resident
- Fees for renewal for a green card holder (i-485 already approved and got the green card)
- Feel free to add any recommendations or thoughts about your experience

Hello,

I'm a Russian citizen who was granted asylum and changed my status to permanent resident a few months ago. Recently, I discovered that I may be eligible to receive Armenian citizenship because of my roots.

Questions:

1. If I become an Armenian citizen and travel in and out of the US using my new Armenian passport along with the Green Card, will it cause any issues? (I'm not planning to go to Russia).

2. Will it create any complications when I apply for US citizenship?

I think so! I did not pay the fee because I have a pending i-485 and my application was accepted. Here are the instructions for the RTD application:

Form I-131, Instructions for Application for Travel Document

NOTE: If you filed Form I-485 on or after July 30, 2007, and you paid the Form I-485 application fee required,then no fee is required to file a request for an Advance Parole Document or Refugee Travel Document on FormI-131 if your Form I-485 is still pending, if:

  1. You now hold U.S. refugee or asylee status, and are applying for a Refugee Travel Document (see Part 2.Application Type, Item Number 1.b. of Form I-131); or
  2. You are applying for an Advance Parole Document to allow you to return to the United States after temporary foreigntravel (see Part 2. Application Type, Item Number 1.d. of Form I-131).
Under these circumstances, you may file Form I-131 together with your Form I-485, or you may submit Form I-131 at alater date. If you file Form I-131 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action, receipt asevidence that you filed and paid the fee for Form I-485 required on or after July 30, 2007.

Any updates about wait times for RTD now? Has anyone recently received their RTD? When did you apply?

Dec 20th, 2022: Application received
February 27th, 2024: Application approved
February 28th, 2024: RTD was produced

Now, just waiting for it to come in the mail.

How many months did it take to gef your RTD please?
 
It took about 50 days from applying till the approval today but I submitted an expedite request for family emergency they requested all the medical reports after submitted it took one week to approve the expedite request than few days after that the case was approved.
