Red Light Traffic Violation

Paying the fine in your case is equivalent to a guilty plea in court. What does your ticket say? Citation or violation?

Hi guys,

I´ve been reading a lot of posts regarding traffic tickets and now I am confusing. I am going to bring the payments just in case:

-I have an atomated red light camera ticket (citation)). I went to the court and got a certified payment for that.
- I have parking violation. I got receipt of payment from city of Los Angeles parking. I´ve been trying to get it certified, but they told me that They don´t do that. Should it be a problem because it is not certified??.
- car accident. little crush in a parking lot. Any ticket, any police..nothing. Both parts reported to our insurance. So I think that I shouldn´t say something.

Any advice.
Thanks

Minor traffic tickets are not an issue for naturalization. Some IOs (espcially NY area) try to make it an issue against GMC determination if you haven't paid them, or have several similar ones in a short period of time.
Don't beat your head over it. If you declare them, bring evidence (doesn't need to be certified) you paid for them at interview.

Tickets issued by a camera are issued to the vehicle, since they snap a photo of the license plate. At worst, such a ticket is a civil liability of the titled/registered owner of the vehicle. Besides, the N-400 asks if an applicant has "ever been arrested, cited, or detained by a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, so that right there solidifies the fact that camera tickets don't need to be disclosed.
hi
good answer .

I think there are several points that are hidden in n-400 And require some caution and careful:o

any way i have a redlight ticket (420 $) in feb,2007 .. i think no record now under my name .

but i don't mention it in my application

do u think that's ok ? do i need to talk about it in the interview ?

p.s : i don't have the receipt from the court when i pay the fee ( i lost it ) but i have the bank statment and the Draft of the check
Do u think This is enough ؟؟

If you didn't mention in on your N-400, I really wouldn't bother mentioning it at the interview. However, bring a copy of your canceled check (it will serve as your payment receipt), just in case the IO specifically asks if you've ever had traffic tickets. In that case, you can honestly say yes and provide proof of payment, if asked for it. There is no need to provide certified court dispositions for minor traffic tickets. In fact, I've been told by the USCIS service reps that there is no need to disclose minor traffic tickets at all.

I heard in some states (California, for instance) a camera issued red-light ticket will also impose at least 1 point on your driver's license...

the officer who interviewed me clarified by asking if I was ever handcuffed and escorted into the rear seats of a police vehicle before. So minor traffic violations are not going to cause a problem as he suggested.
