Re-entry permit photo question

Hello folks,

I have couple of questions:

1) For Reentry permit, are we suppose to send pictures of Front view (green card style) or right side of your face with right ear visible (old green card style). On the form, it says "side view with right ear visible" but at the photo shop, the guy kept arguing with me that USCIS now only accepts "front view" passport style. No more right view. I got both done just in case. Which one should i send?

2) I have an old refugee travel document which expired back in 2001. Should i send it back with the reentry applicatin since it asks about returing any old documents? Because it is old and has no use of it, can i say i lost it?

Thanks for the input.

Old One

I aways send the old ones to be in the safe side. (You might not send it, but they could ask you to send it later, then you will delay the processing time)

Peope who are in the business of taking pictures always know the requirement. I always count on them. Just tell them you want a pasport photo, and they understand that..

...

cmon folks, so many people have gotten their Reentry permits recently, can anybody tell me what kind of pictures they sent with the application?

I got mine last month, and I sent them both, front and back. But the put the front one on my RP so I would say front.
+ if you have digital camera you can take your photo and then edit it in Photoshop and develop it in any photo center machine close to you house for 20 cents.

Good Luck

I like your idea... :D

..

thanks Lazer, Stupid application says "Side face photos". Must have been old information on it. Dude, smiliy face is something I would send to an online girl but to USCIS, NO CHANCE. I want to send some MEAN FACE pictures to show my cruelty and frustration towards them. Thanks for the info.

To update my last information, I have to say you can even upload your photos in walmart.com and go pick them up for the same price at local Wal-Mart store, even though I am not a big fan of Wal-Mart, that way you will save a CD. I have done it for a few applications and it was successful.

About the instruction on the form I should say, they have come up with photo requirements for most of the applications and standardized the photo in most of them. Last time I asked Mr. WANT and I confirmed it with him. So for most of the application that is related to us I think the front photo would be fine.

Good Luck

PS. Mr. Want I had some problems with my old account that's why I got this new one, I have tried to private message you but your box is full. Please give me a buzz if you have cleaned up a little. Regards

Good idea. I've been using photos taken on a digital camera and printed on my own high-end printer for the last 4 years for all immigration applications, so that works very well.

So basically you upload your photo you like the best and have walmart print out passport size for you?? is this right?
oh boy, I was wasting quite some money on photos that I can save now... :D

This is how I get photos.
1st: I take photos, a lot from myself and make sure I get what I want.
2nd: take them to Photoshop and create a page 4x6
3rd: open my photo and drag it to my 4x6 page
4th: split the page by 6 (2x2) with the rulers
5th: I will have six photos in one page
6th: I will save it as a 4x6.jpg
7th: Wal-Mart option if you like
8th: I will be the happiest man in the world for a second to not paying $15 for 2 pieces of my own photos
9th: when you get them from walmet it will be six photos on one 4x6 paper, you have to cut them

10th: good luck to you

Hey guys,
That's a great idea. I will start doing that from now on. But doesn't that form say "No Digital" photos? I have read that on a RTD form, and I wasn't sure if it said that on the re-entry form. Also, I was wondering how they will know if it's digital or not. I mean when I go to CVS to take a passport photo, they use a digital camera too!! I was just curious how CIS will know it's digital and why they'd put that on the form?

I think it has been an old rule "NO DIGITAL PHOTO". Back then when the digital photos just arrived, they had problem with placing it and stamp it and so on.
Right now no matter where you go to take your photo, USPS or a good photo center they would do it digitally. And + they don’t want to revise the form and say any kind of photos is acceptable because they won't have any other reasons to bug you out. These are not important issues. That is how you can distract people from their goals.

Thanks Nimche,
Yeah...that's what I was wondering. Everywhere you go, they take digital photos and it seems weired to have that restriction, especially nowadays! Thanks for the clarification!
