Guys,

Any idea which airlines dont hassle passengers with Re Entry Permits when departing the US. I was told once by Continental that if you use your RP to go to Europe they wont allow you to board, which sounded weird because if was travelling to Mexico using RP and GC.

I am looking to go to Europe next month for business and would hate to be arguing with the airlines.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ed

Do you have a valid passport and any required visa? REP is not a substitute for a passport. An RTD can be used in place of a passport.

I have a friend who had travelled to Germany and Italy without a Shengen visa only with RTD and GC and returned with out any problems. As far as I know U.S. RTD holders are not required a visa to travel to Germany and Belgium.

An RP CAN and has successfully been used as a travel document, because it IS one. I've traveled on KLM, BA, AA, RyanAir, EasyJet, Swiss, AerLingus and GermanWings (I think that's all) on both an RTD and RP. I was fine, though once in a while, they had to check. You'll need visas on an RP (all, or almost all countries).

Thanks for the info.

No i dont have a valid passort.

I did apply for an RTD but instead they sent me an RP and have been using it since for my travel to Mexico.

cafeconleche - Thanks for the info.

They sent you an RP instead??? Such dolts, but I guess if you're happy with the 2-year validity instead of 1, then its ok.
