I am a GC holder. I have some family issue and need to stay out of the US for 1-2 years. I am going to apply re-entry. I have two questions:

1. I guess I don't need to submit photographs since I am applying the re-entry.

2. Does anyone have experience of how soon the Biometric Services will be done? Say within 2-3 weeks? My status is some hurry, I hope I could book the airticket ahead and travel immediately after the biometric service.

Many thanks for you input!

If you're in a hurry follow the instructions for an expedited Re-Entry Permit. Send copies of documentation to prove you have an emergency, because that will definitely help. Hopefully, then the biometrics should take place in 2-3 weeks, based on accounts on this forum.

Hi Cafeconleche,

Thanks for your comment. Do you know whether the photographs are needed?

You need to file reentry permit before you go out of US and then complete the biometrics. USCIS will send you notice for fingerprints and photograph to be taken at ASC in US .

Yeah, you don't need to include photographs. They'll take those at the biometric appointment. Does it say that in the instructions? I haven't applied using the new rules.

Is it possible to apply for reentry permit outside the U.S. , then come for biometrics to USA and return back?

They will deny the permit if they figure out that you were outside the US at the time you applied.

You can apply when still in the US, then fly away, then return for the biometrics.
