Should I get my status changed with Social Security Administration first? Or can I go ahead and apply for a passport right away?
SS will update your status based on the certificate of naturalization you present them. USCIS doesn't send SS any updates, so if an SS agent says it's too early to be done that's BS.If you visit the SS office too soon after the oath (less than 2-3 weeks), they might say they can't update your status because USCIS hasn't sent them an update for you...
Bobsmyth is right - the SSA cannot refuse to process your request just because it is not reflected in the USCIS system yet. Just in this case, an applicant will have to wait several weeks to receive the card (happened to me).SS will update your status based on the certificate of naturalization you present them. No.Do we need to visit DMV if there is no name change?
Yes, you need to change your status from LPR to US citizen. If you don't, eVerify will not work properly for you.My SS card doesn't have "work with permit etc"...should I still go to SS office and update?
