Processing time for green card based on asylum

Guys, I need your advice and help, please.

I’m planning to visit family in Qatar( not my original country). My green card application through asylum has been pending since September 2024, and I don’t have a Refugee Travel Document yet.

If I apply now for the RTD, could it affect my pending green card in any way? Do you recommend waiting for the green card first? Also, is traveling to Qatar while my case is still pending risky?

Thank you so much for your help and for supporting people in the same situation. I really appreciate it.

You can travel with RTD while GC is pending. RTD application takes 15 months to be approved. I don’t think Qatar accepts RTD to issue visa so that is your main issue

Wait for your GC.

I filed mandamus in September after 17 months of waiting, on December 29 we had our interview. Same day we got the “new card is being produced” update.
Could you please tell me if you entered the country after January 20, 2021? I saw news reports saying that green card applications for those who entered after that date will be subject to review and potential delays (even if they are not from one of the 19 countries mentioned).

There’s not new approvals right here these days. Is USCIS stop processing I-485 based on asylum? We could see some approvals every month before this administration.
