Processing time for green card based on asylum

Someone asks a legitimate question about timing strategies and you jump in with ‘there’s no answer, it’s all luck’ - that’s not helpful, it’s just discouraging. If you don’t have actual experience or knowledge about i485 timing, why comment at all?

What kind of questions you were asked and how long did it take? Is it in Illinois or where ?will your green card count from 2023 or just a year ago like 2024?

I initially refrained from responding to your post, however if you understand what A priori & A posteriori argument and assumption means, you wouldnt hastily comment, please educate me further how your response "answered " the query?Nobody including attorneys some of whom have practiced law for 30 years are able to predict USCIS timelines anymore , Reliable blogs like casestatusext have shut down because no one is getting reliable updates from uscis, Lawfully has not been able to update their average predictions beyond 220 days!! No 2 cases are the same , i have seen a derivative recvd their aos before the primary applicant. So when there is no logic , ryhme or reason behind a decision, in my masters programme years ago, we referred to it as happenstance which means LUCK!

Congrats on the master’s in “happenstance.” Quoting a priori and a posteriori doesn’t turn “it’s all luck” into wisdom. Nobody asked for a philosophy lecture they asked a practical question. If that’s all you’ve got, your first instinct to stay quiet was probably the right one.

Its all good Jay, let us move on, we have enough on our plates dealing with uscis, they are the ones who deserve our angst , hopefully when we all have good news lets have a large connect n have a drink or 2.

You’re right USCIS timelines are unpredictable, and even experts can’t give clear answers. Cases often move randomly, and it really does feel like luck. I see now my earlier response didn’t fully address your point. Thanks for explaining it makes sense.

Agreed. We’re all in the same boat with USCIS. Hope we all have something positive to celebrate soon.
 
It has been 18 months since I received an update on my green card file through my asylee status. Today, I chatted Emma and the agent on the live chat told me "nothing is needed" I am doing my best to expedite it but no one is helping me. I tried to talk to an agent on the phone, still the same. They never helped me. I am dependent on my spouse and my spouse has received it in January 2025. I am still waiting. Any creative ideas?

here is their standart/default response:

There are no updates at this time. Your case is processing at the National Benefits Center. Unfortunately, I will not have access to confirm if your case is assigned or reviewed by any officer. Cases are reviewed periodically. You can get an idea of how long it will take to process your case from the Case Status Processing Times tool available at egov.uscis.gov/processing-times. Enter the Form, Form Category, and Field Office or Service Center, from the drop downs to see the processing time frame for your case. You can then enter your receipt date and select the "Get Inquiry Date" box. If the message indicates "You can send us questions about your case by submitting a Service Request online" you can submit a "Check Case Processing" e-request at egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do.

So spouse received it 7 months after applying? (assuming you both applied at the same time) That's really fast!
It seems that your wait time is within normal processing time indicated on USCIS website.

This is crazy, almost 12 months after your spouse, its a shame, have you reached out to ur senator, raised an enquiry, do you have an attorney, cos they can reach out with more options.
