you already got unrestricted SSN as a result of your asylum, I don't think we need to update SSN again after getting GC or even becoming a citizen.

I was told by a SSA employee, they must be notified when a permanent resident becomes a US Citizen though.

I have same timeline. Approved Feb 25, applied GC 04/16/25.

No update , it’s been 4 days haven’t received any mail. On May 21st my fingerprints were taken.
and I have the same date but silence.
I sent to AZ office, because leave in Oregon.
This is like usually with USCIS…

Hello Friend,
I had my Asylum interview back in 2018, but my decision was delayed. I finally received it in 2023. Most of the interview focused on my asylum statement and the information in my DS-160 form.
There were a few inconsistencies in my DS-160, but I addressed and corrected them right at the beginning of the interview.
Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that you thoroughly review the DS-160 form you submitted to the embassy when applying for your visa. Also, ensure you're very familiar with your asylum statement, as most of the questions will likely come from it.

I just received a notification that my I-485 interview has been scheduled, and the official interview notice will be mailed soon. Honestly, I thought my interview would be waived since this is an Asylum-based green card application -now I’m terrified!

- May 22, 2025 – USCIS was ready to schedule my Form I-485 for an interview
- December 3, 2024 – Biometrics (fingerprints) were taken
- November 18, 2024 – USCIS received my I-485 application

Do you not have an attorney? In this present environment it is advisable no matter how simple you believe your case is .

From what I heard it’s questions on your 485 and making sure you didn’t lie or something. I heard it’s not thorough as the asylum interview. Just make sure everything ties well. For example if you said in your asylum you got arrested and on your 485 you say you were not that’ll be inconsistent. I hope that helps!

Since April 2025, there appears to be a significant slowdown in USCIS processing times for asylum and refugee-based green card applications There is no official pause, but at this pace it might take 5 to 6 years to get green card processed
