Processing time for green card based on asylum

Isn’t this long? I applied within a year with not sending my medicals. I was requested to send it last week. I am just waiting until the last day to send my medicals. Here is my timeline in 2024:

1/2 asylum granted
4/1 GV application with no medicals
9/3 medicals requested
12/3 I will send the medicals

My plan is to have one year from the grant of asylum in 2024 to the grant of GC in 2025
I and my spouse appiled for greencard and 1/13/25 one of us received greencard.
So applying early and taking the risk was worth it. The other of us will get it soon, I hope. We applied at the same time but as far as I understand each application was examined in different places. I hope everybody will get good news soon

How long after you send the application you receive the receipts?

Congrats! So yours took less than a year, correct? You applied in April 24 and received your GC in Jan 25. I also read on lawfully that some asylees got their GCs in less than a year. This is great!

Yes, for one of us it took 9-10 months. For other? We don’t know yet. The one we got our GC from is the office in MO. The other one is not in MO (I think it was KS or TX, I will doublecheck it). I don’t know if the office that processed one of our applications is faster or not?

I hope your other family memeber also gets it very soon. I think location is really important. Mine is with NBC now, but I applied in California. I think California cases take much longer. I hope I am wrong though. I applied in November 23.

When do you have your asylum granted? I applied too 3.5 months after approval, USCIS just updated his processing times and Green card through asylum is taking 10 months 2025 instead of 14 months.

Good to know. Where did you get this table from?

Asylum granted January 2024.
Sent my GC application with no medical in April 2024.
Medical requested during the summer 2024
Sent my medical in December 2024
Approved in January 2025.

Just a bit over one year after my asylum granted. Took the risk and sent my GC application early.

This is good news! Thanks. I hope it applies to me as well. I applied immediately after I was granted asylum in mid November 2023. I applied for GC late November 2023 with medical. There is still no news.

Congrats! It is beginning to look like a pattern. It seems like those who applied in 2024 are receiving their cards faster than those who applied in 2023.

Yes it looks like a pattern. Congrats to the ones who got it. We who applied in 2023 will have to wait for our turn.
