Port of entry, does it matter?

As a LPR, does it matter which POE you choose? Say, one has residence in NY state and wants to enter in Anchorage, San Francisco or Honolulu.

Do you need to use only POEs close to your permanent residence?

I'd probably be best to use a POE that is more "used to" having new immigrants come in, so they know best how to process paperwork and you can come in without delays.

But, ultimately, I do not think it matters.

Normally it doesn't matter. But if you are sent to the back room for extra questioning and they challenge your ties to the US, I expect you will be less credible if you entered at a port far from your stated residence and don't have another flight or at least a bus/train ticket going there.

No you dont, unless you have something to worry about. If you do, then anything is possible.

This is a common question for those with an issue (long overseas staying, secondary inspection, ……etc) thinking that one port of entry is easier than the other. It is not, computer system is connected in all ports and the level of training for those officers is the same.
