Senate has passed a bill that is being taking in consideration.
Is there any good news for us trying to get into US legally? or that is going to benefit only illegal immigration?
Could it be better to became illegal and try to get GC that way??
How about those out of status?? That is not illegal, but how that is going to be taken?
Thanks...

I dont think so... GA boxes are somewhere under the dust...

I dont think so Mr Some_GreenCard. Our cases are not definitely under the dust. I received an email from Lawyer yesterday that 45 day love letter was received. They (PBEC) are working but dead slow.

PBEC is slower than a snail, and I hate the fact that I am waiting for almost 3 years just for the Labor, GOD only knows how long for the GC.

My info is in the tracker. did not know the P-xxxx number yet.

PD Apr-22-2003
ATL DOL June-13-2003

There is a provision in the bill that a guest worker (another name for illegals) can adjust their status themselves without taking help from employer, if they have been working for 4 years....

What a B.S....what about is legals? It's unfair that we have to stick to an employer for adjusting our status that too...after entering legally and paying taxes for so many years...

Go on the Streets

Going on the streets and creating news and pressure on politicians was their way of getting what they wanted... what about us... we are too civilized to go to the streets and rally ?

It is not the matter of going to the streets. Many of us would have participated in a college strikes and political ralies back home. Point is as Legal immigrants (on temporary H1B visa) we are tied to the employers. Many of us has busy schedules and tight deadlines. If we leave our jobs and take to streets, we have to face the warth of the employers. Already we are in a deeeeep shit of PBEC. I dont think any of us want to furthrer worsen the situation. More over the illegal immigrants are required to do the manial jobs and are supported by the civil rights activists and the Catholic church. They form a strong vote bank. Opposed to that we are a threat to the upper strata of the society.

Let us send mass emails and faxes to the Secretary of Labor.

I have read in other forums where people have written in favor of the bill that has been passed.

Some have said that they are very hardworking, some have said they do jobs which nobody else wants to do, all of which might be true. Some have even said that CA, parts of TX and a couple of south western states were part of mexico. I am poor in history so i don't know about that.

I only hope that these changes does not slow down processing of our applications and that their cases will be processed by different offices and by different officials without interfering with the existing process.

Perm

Don't PD's loose their value once the annual quota is increased ? Thats one of the things intended in this comprehensive immigration reform bill..right?
So is PERM a better option now ? Any thoughts ?

Sorry If I have given you any wrong idea, that I am a Miss.

Any way, I am not happy proving you wrong, but my point was not to loose heart and come to a conclusion that our cases are lost in dust.

Good luck and do not worry some day in the near future you will get your 45 day letter and who knows you might get your Labor before your 45 day letter. Be positive......... and Be hopeful, guess we can only do that till that lucky day arrives.

Wishing you and every one including myself good luck .... :)

P.S I have been and going thru the same shit of PBEC.

No bill has passed.
Only senate judiciary comittee has approved. Both senate and congress have to approve. And chances are very slim.

Assuming all this passes and becomes a law, it is another 2-3 years down the road for it to be implemented. Remember PERM .

It may not take more than a month or two to become this law if it get passed.

Once it is law - unlike PERM, visa numbers will increase immeidately. The reason for PERM started late were multiple:

1. They had to figure out how to resolve current backlog (They created BEC hell for this)

2. PERM centers should have backup resources, so if PERM fails, backup is available. To do this, they cleared Chicago and Philadelphia labors and almost made them current so they can transfer that staff to regional PERM offices.

3. They had to define rules, process workflow and recovery process flow for PERM which is not case in 485 where process is very well defined.

My 2 cents !!!
