I had my interview on 3/10/2009. My appointment was at 10:25 AM, since my drive was 2 hours to Chicago, we started earlier and reached there by 9:15 AM. We were asked to wait in Area 2. When signing up the lady told us that they were giving oath letters on the same day for 3/23/2009 oath ceremony in Chicago. Since I am from Indiana, she asked me to talk to the officier.
We were called in for interview at 10:15 AM. The officer went through my documents and asked me if there were any trips between this period. I had a trip to Canada in March 2008, she was looking for travel dates stamp on my passport, when I said since I drove to Canada they don't stap on my passport.
The file she had contained all my documents and passport copies from my GC.
The interview went like this
IO: How did you get your GC?
me: Through employment
IO: Are you still working at the same employer?
me : yes
IO: Went thru some questions, like Drug, have been married to more than one person at the same time, drugs, alcohol, gambling etc
me : no, no, no ...
IO: Do you file taxes every year?
me: yes, here are my past 4 years tax transcripts, and my current year w2 as I did not file my 2008 taxes yet,
IO: I just need 2007 tax transcript
IO: Can you read this sentence (Who is Abraham Lincon)?
me : Read
IO: Can you write, Abraham Lincon was president during civil war
me: did it
IO: I'll ask you questions you need to get 6 out of ten correct
When was declaration of independence adopted?
Who is the President?
Who is the speaker?
Name one state that borders canada?
Name one longest river?
Who were in America before Europeans came?
IO: Congrats you passed the test.
She asked me to verify my name, DOB, height etc and said you can wait for the oath letter outside. I told her I am from Indiana and there is an Oath ceremony in South Bend on 13th, is it possible for me to get into that ceremony. Do you come under South Bend jurisdiction she asked, I said yes. Let me check, she goes out and talks to the officer who was interviewing my wife after few minutes she came back and said the oath ceremony is full we will send you a letter for April ceremony. I said thanks for looking into it.
My wife's interview was very straight forward. Only questions asked regarding test and got the congrats letter.
The interview was very professional. The thing to take out from the interview was, Tax transcripts, its good to have all the transcripts and answer to the point.
Thanks to all the participants on immigration forum, there is wealth of knowledge from everyone experience.
Good luck to everyone.
