Speaking of police checks, be mindful that Sydney Consulate has its own requirement to have them done in ANY country you stayed 6 MONTHS or more in, not just the standard 12 months as listed on the DV website at state dot gov.

Interviews are scheduled by KCC.

You must have these completed before interview scheduled:
1. Your DS-260 form submitted and processing completed. You can check that status by emailing KCC.
2. Your case number must be current as per the visa bulletin.
3. There must be capacity at your consulate/embassy to take your case.

The DS-260 form access has been failing a lot of people recently. It's not just you. Eventually someone will fix it.

I can't link websites due to spam filter, but if you type "visa bulletin us state department" into a search engine, you will find the link at the top of the search results. We are currently in October Visa bulletin, it is issued every month between 8th and 15th.

thank you! i just got off the phone with the Sydney Consulate, so confusing! I submitted my DS260 back in May but it appears as though i may need to do it again, all this pressure with having to confirm your schedule in the next 24hrs! i feel so lost and unsure of where/what to do!

Why would you need to submit your DS260 form again if you already submitted back in May?

I suggest you choose the option to get both the digital version and the paper version (why risk not having both?)

It took 10 working days to complete my AFP Check in August 2025, and that was with the "we are experiencing larger than usual volume of requests" warning at the top of the page. There is still time to pop down to the local police station and get them done.



You may have to get them done with ink and have those sent directly to AFP who will scan them. Or depending where you are, the fingerprints will be taken digitally and then printed by the police onto paper, then sent directly to AFP.

Will definitely select the option for both. You're obviously a bit further ahead in the process than the rest of us. The part that still confuses me is that the consulate now seems to need copies mailed to them. I assume you've done that and this is some new change they are requiring now? So what are the exact next steps for this here? what is the DV1 document and what is required from it and in order for us to move forward?

I'm still working it all out, but it might help others to help you if we knew where in the process you are. Eg, case number? 2nl? Email from Sydney consulate last night?

If the system is currently down and you're not able to download the confirmation page, what makes you think you will be able to submit a new form on the same system?

You're not the only one having difficulties accessing CEAC, you just need to be patient until the issue(s) impacting the website gets resolved.

I just spoke to someone at the AFP (who sounded like she had dealt with this a lot) who said that it is best to obtain a receipt from the AFP once the money has been taken out of your account for the check to add to the application to show that it is in process. I am thinking of doing this and then sending off all of my other documents and following up once I receive the certificate.
 
The visa navigator sends you round in circles & ends nowhere, but I just noticed they have a 1300 number on it...
 
Yes I have called that number a few times - they said the only way to contact them is through the support email with visa scheduling…incredibly frustrating!!

Does anyone know what the process is for rescheduling an interview at Sydney (apart from what was contained in the email yesterday)? I think given timeline for documents this may be my best bet!
