RE: Employment Based I-485 Adjudication After 3/9/2004 Deadline for TPS El Salvador
Dear Director Don Neufeld;
I understand that you have promised to Congressional members to significantly increase resource allocations to I-485 adjudication's after 3/9/2004 deadline for TPS El Salvador so that the processing time for I-485 will be reduced to 12 months or less by the end of September 2004.
However, apparently the same promise was made last year, and I-485 processing times did not decrease after 3/9/2003. Furthermore, the current processing time for I-485 cases has already reached over 25 months.
It would be very reassuring to the employment based immigration community if your office could be more specific about the steps being taken, or being planned, in order to reduce the current growing backlog. For instance,
1) How many officers is currently working on I-485 adjudication ?
2) How many officers will be allocated to I-485 after 3/9/2004 ?
Respectfully yours,
