Newark local transfers

I paid $25 per form per person. There are two forms and the total for me and my husband was $100.

It will definately vary from doc to doc. I am positive you should be able to get it done for cheaper.

Poorim: did you have to submit your interview letter a window #1 which said Sec. 245i

Do you have any idea if more than one interview is scheduled per day for adjustment of status

Waiting for EAD receipt

My wife applied EAD with me she got her receipt and I am still waiting mine over 1 month.

I checked with my lawyer....

seems like what happened with Samku is similar to what is happening to people who go to Newark for stamping - their cases are also being held for IBIS checks.
Don\'t worry samku - this (as per him) will certainly not take 180 days, it will be much sooner.

Also, the client that he went with this morning was approved and stamped at the same time - so it\'s not true that they are not stamping right away.

Good luck to all the interviewees, please continue to share your experiences as you go.

But Mikhail

Did the client of your lawyer (who got stamped) had the interview at Newark, NJ only? Please let us know.

Mikahil: Can you clarify please.

On one hand you are saying that cases are being held for IBIS checks and on the other hand you also mentioned that cases are getting approved and passports stamped at the same time. Please clarify if I missed something here. Thanks.

Good news for you guys who have interviews.

I just saw a post saying that the Newark office has started PP stamping on the same day. It seems their computers are up and running now. You all may not have to go twice to the local office.

PP Stamping on same day at Newark

I went for PP stamping to Newark INS office today with my approval notice. They did background check in one hour and my passport was stamped. You dont have to go another day for stamping. But they were telling everyone that it would take 6 to 12 months to recieve the plastic card. Does it really take that long?

Got approved both myself and my husband

I was scheduled for an interview at 10 am. Reached there at 9:50 am. Was called in at around 10:45 am. The officer was quite a sweet guy. He first took our signatures and index fingerprint on form 155 or whatever that number is. He then told us why our case was transferred. They had identified that the company that had filed the adjustment of status petition for my husband was out of business. Which was true because that company was acquired. The officer said that was fine and would approve his case right away. He asked me a few questions and eventually approved my case too. My case was little bit of a story but the officer was very co-operative and helped us resolve the confusion that my lawyer had created. I had two separate files at Vermont. Vermont did not tranfer both files to the Newark office. The officer said he could not approve my case until he saw that file. He asked if I had any problem with the INS. I said \'no\'. He said then it should not be a problem and he would send me an approval letter once he reviewed my second file. He stamped my passport \'new Section 245\' sign and date. I don\'t know what happened after that, probably he realized I was not very happy to leave without an approval but at the same time was happy for my husband, he started asking me questions to help resolve the mystery of the second file. After a little bit of a brainstorm we figured it was my student EAD application. He took a copy of my student EAD and then approved my case as well. So I think \'Samku\' need not worry too much. The officer told me that the \'new section 245\' stamp is to prove that you saw an INS officer#xyz on that particular date.
Free tips from me (the experienced one):
Take all paperwork you can think of since the reason for tranfer is not defined on the interview call letter. And I feel there is a reason for every transfer.
Dress well. Be confident and polite.
Thanks for your best wishes and GOOD LUCK to you all.
