No receipt yet - sent a single cheque-please help
Hi everybody,
My attorny mailed my I-485 on 06/22, I do not yet have the receipt. I just checked with my office, they just issued a single cheque for all the fees including my wife and myself. I suspect, that is causing the problem. But my lawyer says, he always sends a single cheque for all the fees(485, EAD etc.) for the primary benificiary and dependants.
Does anybody know, whether seperate cheques needs to be sent for different applicants and applications, or a single cheque for the whole amount is ok.

Even though it is better to issue checks seperately, I think its okay to issue a combined one. Find out if that check is cashed yet or not! The advantage of writing seperate checks is that if there is any problem with any part of application then only that part can be sent back (for e.g. AP, or EAD etc.) If every thing is sent in one check then INS has to send back every thing though! Apart from that there should not be any problem.
Let say if your application is not assembled properly, or it is kind of complicated case etc. then probably it may take a bit longer for data entry, at the same time it may need more experienced INS person to enter your data. So it may be taking a bit longer. Thinking from other side lets say your case is assigned to an officer for data entry purpose but that officer is stuck with some other case that is before yours and it is taking a bit longer for data entry then yours may be getting delayed because of that. I see in this thread that some applications got stuck like that. For example harman\'s case got delayed app. one week (he is suppose to have 8/20 as ND but his checks got cashed on 8/27). Even though people who mailed around 7/05 got their receipts, in between 6/22 and 6/28 there are 6 cases waiting for receipts. So cheerup.
Just stop worrying about thiese receipts and have a nice long week end

Can you please find out (calling your bank or your employer) if your checks are cashed, if they are cashed when? Any one called IIO to findout what is going on?
Mine are not cashed yet!

I have a colleague who applied in June last week and his checks have not yet cleared.. found from the finance department in our company.Whereas mine I have sent in july and got receipt

Do you know if your application was sent by courier? I think probably your company mailed it by USPS that\'s why your RD is 7/17! If your company uses USPS then in your colleague\'s case probably it took some time to reach INS (note that not every one with RD 7/17 got their receipts). If you are very sure that your application was sent by courier then It is really a question why your RD is 7/17. If your colleague also sent it by courier then probably some one is using all these applications as a pillow

I specifically asked the ATTY to send it on the 5th and asked her the mode of mail..she said it is Priority mail USPS.Now I am having a second thought of what she might have actually done

My attorny mailed my application by Airborne. I will try and check the "check" status. Actually I\'ve asked my office to check that several times, but you know these people..... they never have time. I\'ll let you people know.

it may be possible that it is already with your attorney, if not you can call IIO and give your name and date of birth and they will be able to give you more info.If INS has cashed the checks then it should account to any application in their system Definately your application should be there in the system
