New PROCESSING dates for district offices?

More to it than that, I think. They haven't updated their monthly statistical report for February yet either. I'm tending to the view that all this has to do with the report to congress.

I tend to agree. If they post a bunch of random dates (i.e., past processing updates) onto the website just to give us something to chew on, and later find out that there are significant discrepancies between the "goals" and ACTUAL times, it can come back to bite them in the ass at the Congress hearings.

I seem to remember from my AOS times that they tend to do what looks like "batch" updates sometime on Friday evening. I might be completely wrong, but I would expect the processing times be updated before Saturday morning.

They are pretty useless, but in some cases it gives a good indication of progress trends. In my case I am looking at N-600 processing in San Jose, that in the last couple of processing times reports was actually speeding up a bit (jumping a couple of monts in the monthly report). I hope this time it jumps two or three months. Anyway, it seems bogus as the processing time instead of slowing down was "retrogressed". I guess they try their own way to give you an idea of how many months of wait to expect.

My 2 cents

As evidenced by the pattern that emerged over the past couple of months, NYC applicants have been receiving their ILs between the 17th and the 23rd days of the month. I think mine will be in the next month's rounds.

wow, seems to be true for LA for October-January at least - there are 17th to 29th dated ILS (only 1 IL since January - March 20 for PD July2)

UPDATE POSTED - for Denver DO at least

The update date says March 15, 2008 but it was posted sometime this evening. I checked earlier today, but the last update date was still showing as Feb 15, 2008 as of this afternoon.

N-400 dates actually retrogressed :( Last update showed the N-400 date as July 09, 2007. Current update shows this as June 30, 2007

Change of wording?

The wording seems to have changed a little bit, didn't it? I don't remember seeing this before

"The processing times shown below are for applications that have just been completed"

And this might explain why processing dates for some DOs went back.

kinda makes sense..also says 14-16 months instead of 16-18. i filed back in october..and they have just completely applications from june 30 for my DO..so if i am correct..there is a 75% chance my oath ceremony will be on July 4th as they usually have one on independence day..atleasst here in des moines..interview is in mid may..what do you guys think? should i be counting on that? what are the chances of me getting the oath done by july?

Actually, that wording has always been there.

This is true. And it also says "when applications and petitions are completed within our target timeframes, that goal will be shown in the data display" -- which is a completely different standard than "applications that have just been completed." To add to the mess, a third standard is added to the wording, the official 14-16 month estimate -- which corresponds neither to the target timeframe nor the real time processing. And the new processing timelines, cooked up for congress, don't correspond to any of these. So the officially posted processing dates, along with their explanatory text, offer at least 4 different and conflicting standards by which to measure them.

It's also possible that they want to juxtapose the 14-16 month timeframe with the June 30th processing date, to attempt to fool the Judiciary Committee into thinking that they are actually working several months ahead of their projected goals. I doubt the committee will buy it.
