Yes

Thanks!

Yes, I received mine (letter/invitation for oath ceremony) right at the end of my interview. So did my wife. So did quite a few people there.

I had my interview appointment for 8:40AM today. I reached the USCIS office at 8:10AM. After the security check, the guard instructed me to drop my appointment letter in a box; I did and waited. A very professional and courteous officer called me in for interview at 8:42AM. The interview lasted exactly 18 minutes.

The officer asked to pledge that I will speak the truth etc. Then she asked me for the following ONLY: permanent resident card, passports (all passports old and new), state drivers license.

She asked me to read a simple sentence. Then she asked me to write a simple sentence. Then she asked me 6 questions, I answered them correctly, and she didn't care to ask any more questions about history & civics. Then, she went over my N-400 and verified quickly my name, SSN, address, date of birth, phone number. She asked what is my current job and I answered.

Then she went to ask all the yes/no questions on the N-400. She was quick and so was I! There was a traffic citation for me in the past and I had marked 'yes' to cited in my N-400. The lady officer just asked me if had paid the fines and I said yes. She moved on. I had the original receipts with me but she didn't ask for them and I didn't show them.

After this, she gave me a letter that notifies that I passed the test. She also gave me another letter/form that states my oath ceremony will be on NEXT THURSDAY at 1:30PM at the same office.

She was kind enough to mention that oath ceremonies are held every Thursday at the USCIS office in New Orleans.

New Orleans is (one of?) the least reported sites in this forum, so if I can answer any questions based on my experience, I will be happy to!

Did you guys change your name too? Also should I bring something to verify my job or something? (I did that for my PR interview in few years ago.)

Where is the Oath place (in a court or the DO?)

My wife is replacing her last name with mine. She was asked to show the marriage certificate. The officer told her that in this case, she will not need to go to the court for oath. It can be done at the USCIS office itself (on a Thursday). For other kind of name change (abbreviating, shortening, changing spelling, completely different name etc.) , the oath is scheduled at a court house.

They did not ask me to show anything about my job - but that might vary from one officer to another. No harm in carrying the documents.

The Star-Spangled Banner ........

I am excited to share that I have become a proud citizen of this country!

Here is the little description.
My appointment for the oath ceremony, at the USCIS office in Metairie, was at 1:30PM. I arrived at 1:10PM.
After going through the security check, I was asked to take a seat and told that a line will form at 1:30PM.
At 1:30PM, a line was indeed formed for the people who were scheduled to take oath today. One by one,
officers showed everyone their naturalization certificate and asked to confirm if the information (name, date of
birth, country of origin) was correct. Then the officer collected the permanent resident card (taken away for good!).
Also, the oath ceremony letter/form had to be submitted.

Then everyone was seated and the ceremony began - which included singing of the national anthem, pledge of allegiance, video-played speech of president Obama etc. The ceremony began at 2PM and ended at 2:55PM. Each person was individually called and handed over his/her naturalization certificate. It's a beautiful experience!

The ceremony was a very relaxed yet exciting and uplifting experience; no pressure, nothing.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experience, and for advising others, here. I have benefited from it - thank you!

To nmknh: Maybe i will see you at the interview on feb 3rd, and good luck to you !
I will share mine later!

The bottom line.. I passed, but had to wait a bit. Got to the office around 9:30 AM for 10 AM appointment. There were more folks than I anticipated. Lots of couples.. I was called around 11:30 AM. The interview itself was less than 5 minutes. Since I have requested a name change, my oath will be scheduled accordingly (once a month for name change folks in NOLA). Now just waiting for the Oath letter!
