Name Check

Today I called USCIS and spoke to 2nd level officer and she said my case is pending and they are waiting for my name check. I did my FP on 06/18/09 (I had scheduled on 07/07/09 but I went earlier). Is this normal or I am stuck in Name Check? Anyone else in same cituation? Please share your experience. Thank you

Don't worry. I sent my application around the same time and have not gotten an interview letter yet. We also have the same DO. I called USCIS yesterday and was told that they are still waiting for my FP results even though they were sent back by the FBI to USCIS the same day I took them.

I remember my step dad being stuck on this for a long time because I guess his last name was very commun and such.....but every case is different so you will be fine, if they take long just bug them again. Good Luck!

You applied less than 2 months ago. It is normal to still be waiting at this time. Most people wait at least 3 or 4 months to get an interview letter.

Same here. I did my FP on 6/9 (scheduled on 6/26), the FP results were sent back to USCIS next day. So far, I still didn't get my IL yet; called twice and was told my name check was not back so they could not send the IL. Keep waiting...

Excuse my ignorance but what is a "name check", isn't that included in your background check by the FBI? If not, I wonder is not so commun names are faster for them to process?!......

You can't really trust what you are being told over the phone.
I have heard dozens of different versions about my name check, fingerprint status, DO schedule and when to expect IL.
These days namecheck is usually complete within 30 days, maximum 90 days.
Give them a bit more time.

Re

You probably should have stuck to your scheduled date for finger printing. Being over active does not help at times. The reason why they have specific dates for everyone is process them in order. You tried to jump over the queue.
:)

IL is sent out 45 to 30 days from the interview date. The wait seems long in your case because you did the FP two weeks before scheduled date. You should get IL within the next 15 days....

:)

I don't believe jumping the queue has anything to do with the process slowing down. If anything, it speeds it up.

Same boat...

If you read me again....I meant to say that the wait seems long for OP because he did FP early. In fact earlier than most here. He did FP two weeks after mailing N400. He should therefore expect a longer wait (after FP) for interview letter.

It does not matter how fast u do your FP
Name check will determine ur queue and to some extent your priority date

The earlier you do FP...the earlier your name check starts...

Name check is initiated at the same time as FPs. I was undergoing the naturalization process during the infamous backlog of 2007. Like everyone else's application, mine was taking longer than normal to process. Through correspondence with various elected officials, I was able to find out that my name check was submitted and completed in the first week of December 2007. As suggested by my timeline, my name check actually took place a few weeks BEFORE my FPs.

I was just trying to protray Desi mentatility of jumping the queues. I guess it goes back to let me be the first and don't care who else is before and after me. When will we learn to be patient and follow the rules.
