N400 Application RFE, FPs and Interview Dates

Thanks javis. My wife was planning to call FBI customer service today and SURPRISE.
She received the YL. Dated Oct 1,2010; mailed Oct 4, 2010 and received Oct 8,2010.
Seems like both our interviews will be held on separate days.

Do you know if USCIS sends letters through 1st class mail?

Thanks for the update. I'll keep updating this thread as and when I get any updates from USCIS :)

Your update will definitely help everyone with July Priority Date to know what cases are currently being processed and how much will be the wait.

No signs of transfer

Looks like there hasn't been any movement on our applications, esp. the Wash. DC ones. Looking at historical data, our cases should have been transferred to local office by now. Its been 3 weeks now since I received the Yellow Letter. Seems like this is going to take another month. huh....

My friend got her YL on Aug 28 ,it almost seven week..........i didn't think it transfer to local office yet So you four weeks behind her........Wow VA office is so slow.

GC Employer and citizenship interview

I changed my jobs when my I-485 was in process. This means I never worked for the employer after getting my GC. The new employer offered me a job in the same field with a similar pay. During the tenure on my new job, I got my Green Card. My case was txferred to DC office for interview wherein they never asked me about my old employer.

I have read in this forum that the Adjudicating Officer might ask or show concerns on whether you worked for the employer who filed your GC. Is that true? Does it really matter if I worked or not OR are they OK with the fact that I have a job??

Any inputs are appreciated.

-Thanks

Hi Just wondering if you received your IL?

N400guy,

Were you an H1B when you adjusted status? If so, AC21 portability applied and the employment change would not be an issue.

P.S. RFE means Request For Evidence and when dealing with the natz officer they might hand you one but will call it an N-14.

In the context of the thread discussion, RFE refers to the FP notice sent out to the applicant, not a N-14 handed out by IO.

Not yet. Every morning I hope that I might have got an email saying my case has been transferred. But then the same old story. Its been 1.5 months since the YL and no signs of transfer. Our interviews would definitely run into the holiday season.

Yes, I was on H1B when I adjusted my status. The IO just asked for current employment letter and approved the GC.

I think so too. This is taking too long. :(

Hi N400Guy,

Any news on your IL? I am still waiting. :) :(

Nope. Nothing on the horizon. :(. Running into December soon. Around Thanksgiving, all processing will slow down and take us into December. So hell lot of a wait. Wish I lived in Arizona. I would be sitting with my US passport now.

Just move to Maryland, and your case will be done before end of the year. DC is one of the worst and notoriously slow office in the nation. I filed in August 2010 here in MD, and Friday I am attending my swearing-in ceremony, just over 102 days from start to finish. Baltimore Office is much more efficient and I can see that those $$$ have done some good to revamp their system.

As they say, "Your mileage may vary". My priority date is June 3rd and I have yet to get a decision. The IO who interviewed me at the Baltimore field office was clearly incompetent. She claimed I had not filed some documents. Only after I insisted that I had filed them she found them in the file she had right in front of her. She also contradicted the USCIS rules on the physical presence requirement. (It's not a matter of misunderstanding: she was flat out wrong.) She asked for additional documents after the interview but if she had looked at my case carefully, she should have asked for these before the interview.

I wrote up a complaint letter right after my interview, while the details were fresh in my head. I did not send it right away because I was concerned it might delay my case (I was thinking of sending it after the oath) but since my case is being delayed anyway maybe I should send it in.

You might have pissed off the officer, so she is delaying your case as a mild punishment. You could have waited for entire process to be over, and send your complaint.

I have not sent my complaint yet. I don't know which bit of "I did not send it right away because I was concerned it might delay my case (I was thinking of sending it after the oath) but since my case is being delayed anyway maybe I should send it in." was unclear.

As for pissing off the officer, I'd like to know on which planet filling as per the rules and answering questions properly and politely should constitute "pissing off the officer."

Very hard to predict the dates. This could even take us to Jan or Feb 2011. :(
