N400 application rejected.

Hi,
I have filed for citizenship last month for my 3 family members (combined check) and got back my papers saying "The check amount is incorrect or has not been provided".

What could be wrong?

resend it with a different check for each. Make sure you are including the right amounts. I got the same letter too.
 
Three family members? You, your spouse, and your child? I hope you are aware that you're not supposed to file N-400 for under-18 children.

I have followed instructions here
uscis.gov/files/article/attachments.pdf (under current Naturalization fees section).
Actually I have sent combined check for $2040 ( for 3 applications) as per above info

As Jackolantern stated, you cannot file for a minor child who is under 18 years of age. When you become a citizen, your child will automatically become a citizen as well. If you wish, you can then file for your child's certificate of citizenship (N-600), but it is not mandatory.
