US Passport Application Outline - secondary proof of citizenship
Thanks Huracan,
I applied with the following documentation:
1) Mom's Original Certificate of Naturalization (when I was 15)
2) Certified court papers showing divorce and sole custody by my momma - this one was tough b/c I originally tried submitting copies but they needed court certified docs (when I was 13)
3) Original Certificate from 1982 from when I became a LPR
4) My current green card (overkill)
5) Copy of my California Driver's License
6) Birth Certificate with affidavit/notarized translation from language expert
7) 2 Passport Photos
8) Actual Application Form
9) Check for the app fees
Milestone dates:
Wednesday, Oct 6th 2010 - Applied for passport
Thursday, Oct 21 2010 - Received email notification that passport was sent via expedited service.
Friday, Oct 22nd 2010 - Received passport in mail!
Can't believe it really only took about two weeks and two days for this process. I'll still probably get my certificate of citizenship in 5 or 6 months, haha, but this route was MUCH faster and easier. And I couldn't have done it without the great help/advice from you great folks in the forums. God bless you all.
One advice I didn't follow from the board was I went ahead and registered to vote on Oct 13th as I was 99.9999% sure I was a citizen and by pure coincidence I got my voter card and passport on the same day! Radical. Very happy!
Have a great weekend all,
