Confused!

Hi! Guys,

We have applied the Naturalization on November from West Palm Beach, FL. We moved after submitting the application. We called the IO and changed the address. Received the finger print notice for West Palm instead Tampa and requested WPB to change the location. But we never received any letter from West Palm Beach.
Then, you guys advise me to go to Tampa ASC and turned out good. They took her finger print. Then after couple of weeks, we received the interview notice and asked us to go to West Palm Beach. But it came directly to my Winter Haven address. We decided to go to West Palm Beach for interview.
Yesterday, we went there and waited for interview. IO took my wife and she went over all the application and she asked my wife that "do you still live in West Palm Beach". My wife didn't lie and mentioned about the move. Then she said that they can't do there and has to send to Tampa. She apologizes for INS's mistake and she will go to send the application package to Tampa.

What is next step for us? How long should we wait.

You guys are always awesome. Please advice.

Saroj

Sorry to hear that. It is always bureaucracy.

Anyways, don't worry. Your wife is almost done. She will have an interview in Tampa soon. It will take time (perhaps in weeks or months). What about your interview? You said "we"

She will have an interview in Tampa soon.

"Soon" being a relative term, dependent on how long it takes for WPB to forward the files to the SC, and the SC to forward them to Tampa DO. Realistically probably a minimum of 2-3 months delay.

Thanks you both for advice. Mine one was done last year. I went with her. That's the only reason I said "we".

What does it mean SC. Why would they send to SC??

Thank you again.

SC is main service center (Missouri Service Center, I think or Texas Service Center) or point of receiving your file from original district office (West Palm) and forward your file to specific district office (Tampa). SC is reponsible to update the system, recieve your case from original office, and deliver your case to the office.

SC=>Service Center.

The way the transfer process normally works is that everything goes through the service center. As far as anyone has been able to determine, district offices never transfer files directly between themselves.

boatbod,

I moved to new address "within the same state" fallen under Durham DO while my case still pending in TSC. I want to know who process the change of address? does that mean my file will be forwarded to Durham DO directly from TSC?

Did both addresses fall under the same DO? If so, your case should not be impacted at all, but you will still need to file AR-11 and call the 800 number to have your case updated. (Theoretically you can now file an online AR-11 instead, and that is supposed to also take care of updating your active case files too.)

No. The new address fall under Durham DO, the old address fall under Charlotte DO. I changed it online and i updated pending case and entered case # and all the information. At the end, i got a confirmation as well and i kept it for my record. By changing the address online i don't have to send AR11, right? So, my case is pending at TSC and i want to know if the TSC will forward the file to new DO? do you think i will be impact even if it is a new DO within the same state?

Thank you

I think that West Palm beach is the worst office here in florida. I apply in August 2007, FP in febreary, interview date still waiting. I went couple times to WPB inmigration office and they always told me that my case is in Miami. How is possible if i never live there, i never move from my house, that's made me crazy. I went last week again and the same answer "your case is in Miami", " we don't understand why", ....., I said ok, send an email to Miami and claim my case. They did and told me come back in a month. I hope this finish soon because i am really tired about this office. I am going to make a big complain about the responsable in that office

Just wait....by the way, can you see case status online? If it is there...you may want to call Tampa DO otherwise IL is on the way. Please note that this is not a fact but a corelation. I have notices many member can not see their src# right after IL has been mailed.

The 'new' electronic version of the AR-11 is supposed to take care of updating active cases automatically, so theoretically your file will be sent to the right place on its own...

Its my understanding that any change of DO (even within same state) triggers an automatic 90 day delay while you become a resident of the new district. I guess you'll either be able to confirm or deny this based on how long it takes to get an interview date.

I have always seen this message since my wife has filed N-400. In this case, should we follow the case status online?

The automated case status system is notoriously unreliable. The message you received might mean the case has already been forwarded to the DO for processing, or it might mean the data simply never got entered properly.

I have talked to IO on the phone today. She mentioned that the address is being changed. She advised me to wait a month. If doesn't take an infopass and go to Tampa. I will see what will happen.

Thanks.
