Medical Insurance for the new immigrants

Hello,
how to get international medical insurance for pregnant women to give birth in usa after getting Green Card.

you'll have to research that in your country. I don't think any insurance will cover an already pregnant woman's birth. That's not what the insurance is in business for.

LucyMo is right. Almost all insurance providers in the US would laugh at you for suggesting that they pay of it.

Really it's interesting threat

Yes, really it's interesting thread, it's one of the issues that new immigrants could face in their new life in USA, I don't know about USA medical charges, but I am sure it's so much expensive since it's excluded in my intentional medical insurance policy, so in this case, we want to know, if there any chance to get any kind of support, in order to reduce the cost? Especially if the person didn't get enough time to get a job and medical insurance?

If you join an employment-based insurance plan they is usually no restriction for existing condition after a few month have passed. But in general the other posters are right. Insurers are in the business of taking your money but also making sure you won't use their plan. A successful, worry-free child birth costs around $25,000, so they really do their best not to have to pay for it.

If money is an issue, you might also want to consider having a home birth in the presence of certified professional midwives.

Also, if you don't have coverage and you are not too picky then you can consider using the subsidized healthcare providers. Most states have programs that aid pregnant women/couples at relatively low cost. Plus, there are numerous non-governmental organizations that provide family reproductive services and maternal care. You have to know your way around this systems though because they can be complicated, so you can't start to navigate through it in your last trimester.

birthing centers (not hospitals) usually charge $3,000-$5,000 for uncomplicated, natural births without an epidural.

Ouch! :(
I'm starting to wonder which hurts more, giving birth or paying for the birth :p

Medical care in the U.S is very very expensive. The most expensive in the world. You absolutely can't live in the U.S without an health insurance unless you are extremely wealthy. Health insurance is one of the biggest problem in the U.S and currently a big issue in the current Presidential race. The issue is that health care in the U.S is very expensive and yet there are people that still don't have insurance. Health care bills in the U.S is also one of the biggest reasons for many bankruptcy among individuals and families.

There are many health insurance in the U.S. It will depends on your age, gender, and sometimes pre-determine health condition. It will also depends on the kind of coverage and the deductibles that you want. The average cost of Health Insurance in the U.S is average about $4,000 per person per year, or about $10,000 per family per year.

Hi I am a green card holder and I have been in US for almost a year. I have been working also and got private health insurance through my company. My question is, I am planning going to go study next year full time in order to finish my degree, and most probably quit my job.
Do you any good health insurance for students in the USA?
I will talk to the health insurance that I have if they can give me any options but otherwise I am gonna have to look for other one.

thanks!

Or extremely poor, and then the state will take care of you... unless it's too late.

I lived in the US for quite a few years without it. I simply didn't have the money for it... I got lucky - never got sick or in an accident, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

try Blue Cross Blue Shield short term insurance.

Most university has an insurance plan for students. In fact, you have to decline the option and provide other proofs of comparable insurance, so I would contact the student health dept. (or one equivalent) at the school you plan to go and obtain some information about the health insurance requirement. Sometimes, the school rate is actually better and you don't have to mess with submitting every bill after each clinic visit.
