Ok, I have been searching the internet like crazy for the past 6 months for help with my situation. I have even been to a lawyer which was a little help, but not what I was looking for. I am looking for people that have successfully done what I want to do...
SETUP:
Me: US Citizen
Girlfriend: El Salvador Citizen
Girlfriend status: currently under J1 2-year HRR and has B1/B2 Visa
INTRO:
We met in Miami just about 3 years ago. She was studying her Masters under J1 Visa. We fell in love and spent a year together in Miami. She finished college and went back to El Salvador to fullfil her 2-year HRR (this was hard to deal with). Her 2 years are up this December 2008 (WOOHOO!!!). We want to get married and live in US as soon as possible and not be apart anymore.
DETAILS:
We have been apart from each other too long already and just want to get married and be together ASAP. The easy thing would be for her to just come to the US on her B2 and we "spontaniously" get married and file for AOS. But, the problem is, it is really important for her family if we get married in her church in El Salvador and they don't want to have it any other way.
So, what can we do to get married in El Salvador and then come to US on B2 and file for AOS? We do not, by any means, want to go through a K3. We are tired of being apart, and these past 2 years has hurt us enough already.
I know that entering the US on a B2 visa with the intent to get married and adjust status is illegal. So, I am sure the fact that we would already be married is even worse. But, is there any way we can make this work? What if we get married again once in the US? What if we just try and legalize our marrage here in the US? Are there any "spontanous" loop holes around this?
All we want is to have a wonderful, beautiful wedding in El Salvador; Go on a even more beautiful honeymoon; Then move in together here in the US right after the honeymoon and live happliy ever after.
Any help or input anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
