Yes - certainly a big bonfire wrapped up in the form of a BBQ is in order. Invite all the family and friends and give each a batch that is nicely wrapped to toss into the huge bonfire! The more support a person gave you entitles him/her to a bigger batch to burn. :D

BUT ..... before I will allow you to have the said party and bonfire, you should probably scan as much of these documents as possible on to CDs for reference. I know how much of a pack rat you are and you probably would loose sleep if you burnt everything without having copies. Plus deep down I know you don't mind the extra work of scanning - admit it! Do I know you or do I know you?!

Congratulations, thedeepsea. when did you apply?

That's good to hear that you got your passport and certificate, volrak. when did you apply? (I forgot). I know we had same day interview. You applied next day? right? I applied for my passport (I chose to expedite it) next day after my interview and haven't received it yet. It looks like you are a winner. :)

what do you do with ton of paperwork? perhaps you can keep them as souveniors if you want.. don't throw them away. I kept mine in the attic.

Did you update the ssn's citizenship status? mine is finished.

I applied on the 12th. Call the passport office and check the status. I am going to update the SSN on monday.

I have a couple of questions.
1. For regular process, do they send you the passport /Nat Cert in a regular first class mail?
2. Do they have different processing centers for different geographic area?

Thanks!

I do believe that they send them in seperate envelopes for non expedited service. and yes they do have seperate geographical passport agencies. Mine came from Houston.

hahah, you funny. yes i am a pack rat, but the most disorganized one. when i file stuff, the system i use makes sense at that moment, but never makes sense when i go back to it. there is just so much stuff, so many copies of things. i will have to scan everything and keep it for just in case if someone wants to screw with my citizenship.

i applied the next day, 13th, and received it the 19th. i applied expedited. my status for passport never appeared online, but i called a few times and was told it was in process. now, i need to figure out where to save the certificate. under bed, frame it ah :) fun times.

Please don't frame the certificate as that could case problems down the road should you need to use it. Just go get one of those plastic document protector sheets - the heavy duty ones - and place your certificate in there. Then open a safety deposit box and keep your certificate there. If you don't want to spend money on a box each year, buy one of those small fireproof metal boxes and keep your certificate in there. You can put the box deep in the closet where no-one can touch it (you know..with kids and all). Also just to be safe, do not keep your passport and your certificate in the same place.

I know I'm crazy, but I had to leave things lying around. :) Good luck with your house hunting!

this is precisely why I applied for my passport in person at the passport agency. got my passport book the next morning and my certificate was not folded... they put it in a large envelope with my new passport. :)

Just wanted to let you know that I just received my US passport along with information of passport and passport card and letter stating that my wallet-size US passport card will be delivered in July. I received the separate envelope containing my certificate of US naturalization (unfolded).

I love historical pictured-pages of my US passport with built-in electronic chip. wow, the process was very quick. The time frame was just 8 days. I edited my signature below. Hope my signature helps everyone who haven't applied for US passport or haven't completed their journey to US citizenship. Good luck!

Thanks, volrak. I beat you about getting my interview first. and then you beat me about getting US passport first. ha Are you going to invite me to your party? (just kidding!) :) Enjoy your life with your US passport!
