Hi Swas,
Do not worry. I had this tension/anxiety for 4 days until I received my passport. As someone else said before we just need to have patience. I have been calling the office everyday and only one in the five people I spoke to have been kind to tell me the status. one of them in fact ridiculed me that it was great that I had sent in my withdrawal application and they will take a look at it and she hung up. All this frustrated me to no end. I am just glad I got back my passport and my wife's with the stamping.Photo was light compared to my previous stampings but it was still OK. I guess I was anxious because it takes such a long time for anything related to Visas/GC to move along.
Please wait patiently if your MO or Cheque has been encashed and you have sent it to the right address it will be at DC. Please be patient when you call DC. Don't give out too much information. All they need is your PP #. Give it to them only if the lady asks you for it. I am giving you this advice from my own experience. ONLY if they ask you do you need to tell them your PP #. Do not submit your withdrawal application unless you intend to All your original docs would be returned back to you. Hope this helps.

PP validity and VISA stamp validity

Forgot to mention. My PP is valid until March 2005. But my stamping was given until Nov 2005 which is the end of visa validity for me. Hope this helps.

Swas,

Most of the time it is pp no. alone but they might ask name, DOB also. Do keep it in mind that they might not give any information at all, and the wait time is almost 30mins, but do give it a try.

Wait-time depends on when you call. Whenever I called, I always got through in less than 10 minutes. Best times to call is around 4-5pm Eastern time.

Your Visa is valid til Nov 2005,

You have to renew your passport and when they issue your new passport they will stamp it saying the passport is cancelled but the visa still valid till Nov 2005.

Fedex Picked up mine

Hi Guys,
Just now I checked the fedex tracking. Mine has been picked up today and will be delivered on Monday (08/09/2004) at 10:00am. I don't know whether it is stamped or not. As per our recent calculations, I was expecting mine on August 20, 2004. But, it looks like it got picked up early. It could be my son's photo problem. His ears were not visible in full. Anyway, let me see. But I don't care. I don't have any plan to go this year.

Your visa application cannot be clearly approved at this time. You must apply for the visa application in any US embassy or consulate overseas.

I think, my old visa in the passport expired on oct 2003. I have another visa from Jan 2003 thru May 2006, but it did not get it stamped in the passport and also I have not sent its copy along with other documents for revalidation.

I think I have to go to Mexico or Canada for stamping..

Please advise.

Hi Guys,
I have got my passport and my family's passports today with H1 and H4 Visa stampings. Everything looks fine. They have sent back all my originals. I sent one single cashier check for the whole family. Wishing you all the best for those who are still waiting.

Hi

My application (H1 &H4) was recd by St louis office on 6/25 and i'm still waiting. Last week, one employer had applied H1 visa under premium processing for my wife ( H4 to H1 transfer). Since we haven't received our passports yet, does my wife's visa transfer during this transition cause any conflict in visa stamping? What if my wife's H1 visa approved prior to the H4 visa stamping.

I appreciate if somebody through some light on it.

I dont know why they did not grant your visa. May I ask these questions
a) Are you in 7th year H1B visa?
b) are you from India?
c) Is this new visa ( from Jan 2003 ) from a new company?
d) Did they refund your money?

No, I am in the 4th year

Yes, I am an Indian

No, my new visa from my current employer is from Jan 2004, but I had another visa from Jan 2003 thru May 2005, but I did not send its copy (since DOS did not ask to submit all the H1B copies.

d) Did they refund your money?
No, not yet, they mentioned that the money $50 will be refunded by the US Treasury Department.

Since I did not submit the copy of H1B from my old company (jan 2003 thru May 2005), they might have thought that I was out of status from October 2003 thru Jan 2004.

This is my guess..

Finally

Hi,
Finally I have received passports with the stamping(H1+H4). Everything looks good, but they misspelled my last name at my wife's Visa. Do I need to correct this? Please advise. Thanks to everyone for providing/updating information. Good luck.
