Hi
I sent my PP to SL on June 11 2003 and My pasport received without stamping Sept 10 2003.

Reason in that letter is Overpaymnet Processing fee.

I paid $175.00 money order from USPS

Any ideas highly appreciated.

Do you have a photocopy of the money order .
$175 is correct .
I have read somewhere that it should not be a cent more or less .
Is this for a H1-B Visa revalidation .
Are you from India which requires the additional $75 reciprocity fees . If you are not from India , then you whould check if the $75 applies to your country .
Did the letter indicate how much you should pay .

the site http://travel.state.gov/hlop.html clearly stated that
"Payment for the visa application processing fee and the visa issuance reciprocity fee, if applicable, may be combined in one bank draft, corporate check, or money order"

what is that means then?

i am little bit confused and shocked, because i am also sent one single money order for $175.

I don't think that is the problem . I am sure there is some information that we are not aware of .
I have not read anything on the BCIS web site which states that the fees should be sent as two seperate payments .
How did you determine that a single MO was the problem .
There could be only two reasons for this problem .
The last time I revalidated my Visa I sent a single MO for for me and my wife .

1) Sam could have made a mistake in the MO ( The only way to prove that is if he has a photo copy ) I believe even if the MO was made for $175.01 they would not accept it .
2) The person who reviewed his application should have made a mistake.

I think sam should call BCIS and find out what was wrong with that payment .

Sam, what address you mentioned in the money order under the pay to the order of:

What this means is that he paid more

You are right either he has paid more (> $175) or person involved in handling his case is ignorant

Atleast all the cases where we have seen a Visa not being stamped , the applicants have been asked to send the corrected information to the address in DC .
But In Sam's case they have asked him to send the corrected fees to St Louis .

Sam , if this was a ignorant worker , then I would say , its sheer bad luck .
I think it should be a rare occurance . Its like someone goes in for a minor operation and to their shock , their kidney would have been removed . :)

It doesnt happen always , but even with all the latest technology , we see that once in a while .
I would say that your case was something like that . Good luck with your application


I hope my application does not get messed up .
My flight tickets have been booked for Oct17.
 
Finally got my passport today !!

I booked my tickets to India for next Saturday !! Off for a month :)
