I was interviewed one month ago at a circuit ride location and the AO told me before the interview that I will receive the decision by mail. My case is now pending 145 days. What is going on?
Should I contact the office? Should I apply for EAD 5 days from today even though I have one already( F-1 economics hardship category)? i e can I apply for EAD when I have one that is still valid?
It is very difficult to wait. Please I appreciate any input. Thanks.

Assylum,

Thanks so much I think I will start to call them.

I heard that some people have been waiting for several months and I dont wish it is the case for me.

Anyone Please???

I just called the asylum office and they said they are NOT allowed to discuss the status of an application over the phone?

Who do you speak to when you call Assylum?

Hello Everyone.

my sister is a derivative Asylee, her husband file for asylum and had interview, unfortunately the case has been referred to Washington D.C head Quarters and it is pending there with no communication for the last 8 years, they are renewing their EAD based on pending asylum status.

Now due to some family emergencies ( my mom is not well) she will need to travel back to india so see my old mom who cannot travel.

1. Can she apply for Advance Parole as she is not principal asylee ?

2. Can she take infopass appointment and ask for a emergency AP at local office?

3. what do we need to do to expedite the process
which is pending for 8 years with no decision.

4. Passport issued by Indian government is also expired few years back, Pleae kindly suggest.

5. Principal Asylum applicant is not traveling with them.

Appreciate any help references or any lawyers who can help in this matter, they live in Sanfrancisco.

This forum is very helpful , I thank each and everyone for the contribution and experience.

Thanks a lot in advance.

my bro waited 11 months to receive decision from asylum office, it was very fraustating, doing those months, we sent 5 letters to asylum office, contacted USCIS OMBUDSMAN and represantaives. it's just that they are waiting for ur backround/ namke check results.
145 days is not too long but fruastating

Thank You Jonny1 for your input. Of course 11 months to receive a decision is not funny. I continue to wait. Was your brother on status???
Anymore??? What do you think I should do?

Just curious, did your brother wait 11 months for the recommended approval or the final approval?

if only for the recommended approval, when did he get the final approval afterwards?

Thanks

Uually people from countries, just imagine those nations that has so many terrorists acts and anti USA. Anyway, the recommended decision arrived like after 7 months and final about 4 monthsafter that. my bro is not from any of those countries that has anti USA problem but this still took him about 11 months.
your second answer is, it's not excuse from them, they are just waiting for your complete backround and name check result from FBI. their response were waiting for backround results.

Jonny1,

I think they the recommended approval if the only thing they are waiting now is the name check. Am I wrong?

Thanks.

Jonny1,

I think they usually send the recommended approval if the only thing they are waiting now is the name check. Am I wrong?

Thanks.

hey there i got some similar problem i had interview like 3 wks ago but haven't received any kind of letter and since i try to check status online they say (Your case can not be found at this time in Case Status Online. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.) so can u suggest what is the best to do this time coz i dont have no patience at all and just cant wait

I am confused. I thought that the name check/background check is done for those who are about to get approved. Correct me if I am wrong. They usually send the recommended approval if the name check/background check is still pending....right???????????

Do they have to do name check/background check before sending recommended approval?????????

That is what I was thinking too that they wait for the name to cleared if the claim is recommended for approval. I am now confused too.
What about the NOID? How long they take to send it if they want to deny the case??
Anybody???

From my understanding, sometimes it takes a little bit longer to deny the case because they have to come up with a charging documents against you to be prepared to face you in front of the judge.

just wait and you will get decision. your wait is not too long compared to other's. that is my point and i gave you what happened to my bro.

I don't have any probem waiting as long as they are willing to approve my case. The problem I have right now is that I don't know if they are willing to approve my case or not. If I know that they are willing to approve my case then I will wait for months/years if necessary. I hope that the long wait means a sign of approval.

u cant demand approval, you are just going around and around meaning you are asking same questions again and again though answered.. if you want to know if your case is approved or refered to IJ, you got to wait like others.

if you don't know whats going on, write an status inquiry letter to asylum office and they will tell you it's pending backround check or more time is needed to study your case. that's how it works man. if and but words won't work. immigration process takes long unless you marry a US citizen.
i know some whose asylum case took 4 years. those from middle east or pakistan takes bit long too.

I had an interview around the same time as you did. The interviewer told me I would get a decision mailed to me within one month from then. One month passed two weeks ago. I mailed status inquiry about two weeks ago but I haven't received any reply. I called the 1.800.375.5283 but they said they don't have access to I589 details- that I should mail to the Office that is handling my office, or I should make an INFOPASS at the local office. I went to the local office and they told me the same thing: they have no access asylum databases. I guess I have to continue waiting, anxiously checking my mail box all the time. I agree that waiting in is not a nice experience ...but I'm not alone, I have learned.
