My case actually was approved on March-22 and I have my pp stamped on March-28. But due to some confusing online message on April-4 and the fact I wll travel outside US at the end of this month, I want to make sure about the status of my I485 case is still in approval and the I551 tmp stamp still good.

My question is:

Is that possible to make an infopass appointment with local USCIS office and ask them to look up your case status by your A# ? Is there anyone on this board has the same experence ? Is there any better way to do this ?

The confusing message is an undeliverable notice , I have been told by my lawyer that notice will be re-sent to my home address but I still don't have it yet. Since I cannot be 100% sure what that notice is and I will travel outside U.S about two weeks later, so I want to make sure everything is till cool ,my I-485 is stll in "approval" mode and I can use my I-551 stamped without problem.

That's why I want to ask my local INS officer to look up their internal system for me to confirm my I485 status.

---- when you went for passport stamping you had the I-485 approval notice in hand. what kind of notice you are expecting now. if you went to get passport stamp with the approval notice that lawyer got it then it is ok.

why can't you just call the emergency number instead of taking an info pass appointment.

Ginnu, no,you cannot call VSC directly but you can reach them by do the following . I found this somewhere on this board and it works ..

To reach VSC, call
1800-375-5283

Press 1 (for english),
press 2 (for existing case),
press 6 (for case statues etc),
then press 1( for knowing your receipt no.),
enter the receipt # to get the automated response

Then choose to continue to the next step "press 3" . choose 3

Listen to the options- and choose 4 to to reach VSC

The lady over there is polite and helpful , they can check your info. by looking up your A#, not just repeating what the web says. :)
