Is it too late as a 2014 green card eligible (Very Important)

I sent the forms with the help of yours. Thank you a lot. :) :). You are doing a great job by helping others. I called KCC and they said that the numbers are not current at the moment so take your time and send the forms. But I sent them quickly as possible. I DHL them :).

So, it is just a matter of waiting from now on right? my case number is 47**, As I have heard they have changed the system and numbers that are selected will be again random not sequential. Is that true or is it the same as in earlier years.?

There is no change to other years. However, the numbers are not sequential - there are holes in the numbering caused by entries that were disqualified right at the beginning, before anyone was notified.

The numbers are not perfectly sequential, but they are sequential in the sense of being in case number order and not random. The latter would just involve insanely too much admin- can you imagine if they had to post lists of exact numbers in the visa bulletin every month?!

Thank you again and again. I called KCC yesterday, They said that the sent applications will be processed after 12 weeks from they are received. What happen if the number become current before my applications are processed?

Then they will allocate you an interview once your forms have been processed.

Hi again :). I would like to be sure about what I have in my mind.

1. Since I sent our documents late. and since it is taking 12 weeks to get those processed, What is the guidelines for us to get the 2NL.? Will it be like, immediately after the documents are done processing we will get the interviews or will we have to be in a queue of late submissions :( ?.

2. Since we are students what are the odds of getting through the interviews?.

3. Do we have to take deviance to the interviews to prove our relationship.? Because that would be odd (Getting prepared for that)

4. Normally when AS000047xx get the second NL?

5. I have my relatives in US, So, how can we give them an assurance of that (Because we do not have lot of money to show in our accounts) ?

1. I think this was answered above, but basically once your forms are processed and assuming your number is current before that, then you would get an interview arranged for a few weeks after the forms are completed. Patience is the key.

2. Being students isn't a problem per se, although if you were to continue studies in the USA then you would need to demonstrate how you would finance that plan.

3. Yes, as has been described already, because you married after selection (indeed, only just before you submitted the forms) you will need to show evidence of the relationship as well as the wedding photos and so on. Sm1smom detailed that above (post 11).

4. Soon - in the next month to 6 weeks. The interview would be in Feb or March.

5. You can have them complete an I-134 (affidavit of support). You should should have some money to show. After all - how do you actually intend financing your move to the USA. It is expensive!

Thank you very much for answering this much of questions and clarify my issues on the way Britsimon. I have filled this document not the document in the instructions. I filled this document because it is not expired, As I checked, These two are just the same.

Will it be a problem?

Please have a look at these two documents and state what you think of these two documents?

Thanks

Those two documents are the same because the link is the same. Did you make a mistake with the link or is this a trick question?

You are over thinking this process and stressing yourself needlessly IMO, and usually when people do that, they end up making obvious mistakes and missing simple things they ought not to have missed. RELAX! The form you filled is the correct one, even if it's not directly from the link in the instructions provided. However, I hope you also filled out the DSP-122 form too.

Hi all. I talked to KCC and they said that they have finished processing our documents (Which is more faster than expected). And we will be having our interviews during the next 2 months. So I am having doubts on the amount of money that we have to show at the interview and the re entry permit procedure.

Question
we have nearly 4K in our bank and we can borrow up to 10K from our parents and nothing more than that :). But as britisimon said it is expected to have 10K per each person (we are lacking 6K at the moment) and the money from our parents is not in our accounts but in theirs. And also we have talked to one of our friends in US to give us sponsorship and they agreed to help us so can you give us an idea to prepare for this by considering this state we are in.

Other burning issue is the reentry permit. I would like to have a re entry permit for me to come back and finish my education because I don't have any other option. So, I would like to know on following thing.

Questions
1. How many days will it normally take to receive green card after going to US?
2. Do we have to present in US to receive the card or we can ask some one else to fetch it?
3. How does the reentry permit work?
4. Do we have to have the green card with us to request a re entry permit?
5. Do we have to wait for the entire process for getting the REP in US?
6. Can I leave after submitting the application and after they agreed to issue a REP?

I have followed their instructions on the web site and as it states, the person who requests the REP does not necessarily be present in the country to receive the permit. But I do not know the actual situation. I am very through about this is because, I am going to US in the middle of my studies and I would like to come back immediately after getting my permit and I am not willing to risk my chance we won. Please give some guidance.
Thanks

Hi dioode,
As you called KCC. Did you receive the confirm email from KCC said that your case was done the process?

No, I just repeat what they said. "Your documents are processed now. Since your number is not current at the moment we will not call for the interview next month, But because your number is close, you can call after 15th of January and check the new bulletins "

Thanks

If you have friends in the US willing to sponsor you, ask them to fill out form I-134 for you, you can get it from this link:

http://www.uscis.gov/i-134

Other Questions:
1. Not certain. could take anywhere between 2 to 8 weeks - not guaranteed

2. No, you don't have to be around to receive it in person if you have trusted people who can receive it on your behalf. The I-551 stamp you will receive on your passport at the POE can also be used in place of your physical GC for up to 1 year.

3. A re-entry permit enables you to enter into United States after an extended stay abroad. Read more about it in the following link:

http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/B5en.pdf

4. No, you do not need to have the physical GC before you can apply for a re-entry permit.

5. No, you do need to wait and receive the re-entry permit before you can depart. You just need to wait to receive the letter for the biometric after sending in the application, complete the biometric and then you can leave the US. (You could request for the re-entry permit to be sent to the local US embassy/consulate when you originally fill out the form, you then pick it up from the local embassy when it's issued).

6. See 5 above. You leave after doing the biometric.

Thank you a lot Sm1smom, I appreciate your help a lot. :) :)

For my further understanding, If we have a sponsor in US will that form be enough to prove our financial ability (So that we can ask no money from our parents)

And also can you give us a rough time estimation on receiving a re entry permit from the day we are in US?. Is it hard to tell (Actuallty how long will it take to get the biometric letter).

Well, the more money you can show in your account, be it your personal money or money from your parents, the better. The affidavit of support form just further strengthens your application in convincing the CO that you will not become a public charge. Aside from just using the form to pass the interview, you do realize of course that you guys will need a substantial amount to help you re-settle in the US.

The processing time for the re-entry permit from when the application is received by USCIS to when the travel document itself is issued is about 3 months. It's however hard to tell when the biometric letter will be received, it could be anywhere between 2 to 8 weeks of when the application is received.

You could request an expedited biometric appointment when you send in your application. To request expedited processing, you should include with your application a written explanation of the reason your travel abroad is urgent. This will need to be supported by any available evidence of the urgency, there's no guarantee though that the request would be granted but it's worth a try.
