Interview dress

I went to ther naturalization interview with my girlfriend. When she
was called, the officer camer out and led her inside for the interview.
The officer was wearing a black short-sleeve shirt with khaki pants.
(with a belt that had a huge cowboy buckle) :) The interview was
really fast! She came out within 10 minutes. Since it was already
2pm, the officer told her to come back the next morning to take the
oath. When we came back the next day, most of people taking
oath were wearing just casual clothing. There were 47 of them,
my girlfriend included. The strange thing was that I was the only
person there with a digital camera... :)
 
Since it is summer, wear cotton clothes... anything decent is fine... wear what you would wear for your work and it should be fine... don't wear what strippers wear for work though (kidding dont get angry)... for men same suggestion khaki and shirt should be fine... children can wear anything ...

It really depends how you feel about the event!

Business casual or business formal dressing is your choice. You will not be judge by the way you dress. During my interview/oath we had a mix of everything (from jeans to suit). I wore suit for interview and oath, so did my wife. It was an improtant event for us(specially the oath) and we dressed accordingly.

IMO dressing according to the occasion is important but you will find many here with different opinion.

well, haven't been to interview or oath yet but plan on wearing black pants and a shirt. you can never go wrong looking more professional than others. i'd stay away from jeans and such only because i know such attire is frowned upon when working for a gov. agency. for a man, again pants and a shirt. since it's summer time i wouldn't bother with jackets. i personally wouldn't suggest wearing a tie because that would be a bit over the top. don't fret.... black or brown pants and a shirt, tucked in

We wore business casual (ie. slacks, dress shirt but no tie for myself, and khaki and nice shirt for wife) to our interview in San Antonio, TX.

correct me if I'm wrong... even if CA now allows gay/lesbian marraige, it will not make any difference as far as the federal government is concerned. (pertainint to immigration benefintes) or am I wrong about this? :confused:
 
casuals fine. i have seen people wearing jeans and T shirts . there is no dress code. just wear appropriate dress. indian ladies can wear sari and gents can wear dhothi.

But you don't know if they were approved or not.

Of course, they aren't supposed to decide your case based on how you dress. But if anything with your application involves a subjective decision (e.g. a "moral character" issue where the offense is neither so minor nor so serious to make the decision obvious one way or another, or continuous residence of somebody with many long trips overseas), it's a good idea to avoid creating a negative impression by dressing too casually.
 
Please refrain from name-calling - it does not help on the forum. If you have nothing nice to say, then better you don't say anything at all.

yeah impression matters. so wear appropriate dress. if not tie and suite, atleast business formals. i wore my job interview dress and shoes without tie and suit.
