Incorrect Country of eligibility

I have recently applied for DV-2014 lottery , me and my parents are sudanese Passport holders , but im born in saudi arabia (where i still live till today) .......the problem i have that i made an incorrect information by writing sudan in my country of eligibility (as i understood it should be saudi arabia the country of my birth) ..... am i disqualified ?? .... or there is something i can do to fix this problem .... or do u think that wont be an issue?

If you win, your entry is null for the purposes of pursuing a diversity visa. There is no way to fix it after you have submitted your application. Your country of eligibility is Saudi Arabia, which is the region of Asia, and where you should be assigned to for the purposes of the lottery. You applied using Sudan, which is assigned to Africa. It will be a massive issue as the regions are weighted, and according to the rules, (page 7) will not be accepted as you will be assigned an African CN (should you be selected) instead of Asian, as it states: "Please be aware that listing an incorrect country of eligibility or chargeability (i.e., one to which you cannot establish a valid claim) may disqualify your entry."

At least you know now for next time.

Your country of eligibility is not related to where you live. so as long as you are a Sudanese citizen, i don't think that you had mistake. because when they said "Your country of eligibility will normally be the same as your country of birth." i think this in case of you hold that nationality assuming in most of western countries once you born there automatically you become a citizen.
wish it will make sense.

As you have selected your country of eligiblity as Sudan, then surely you will have a case number belonging to Africa, as I think Sudan is an African country. Now if you can get a birth certificate from Sudan, then there will be no problem. And there should be no problem in getting a birth certificate from Sudan, as you hold a Sudanese passport. The problem could be there if you have stated your city of birth, as a city which is in Saudi Arabia. That's where there a problem could arise. Birth Certificate won't match with the data you had entered during the lottery application.

Not only i mentioned the city , The direct question of the form to mention the country of birth as well , but my question is is eligibility it only applies to a place of birth??.........why not citizenship as well??.........coz in the form it mentions that COE in most cases is the country of birth........so its not equivelant to the country of birth
 
They say in most cases, because you can also claim eligibility through your spouse's country of birth, or one of your parents' country of birth as long as they were not residents in YOUR country of birth when you were born.

Are you claiming eligibility based on the country where you were born? Yes/No

If not, you must enter the country from which you are claiming eligibility.

It think it is fine, bro! Don't worry. Read this from the DV instructions.

Native of a country whose natives qualify: In most cases, this means the country in which you were
born. However, there are two other ways you may be able to qualify. First, if you were born in a country
whose natives are ineligible but your spouse was born in a country whose natives are eligible, you can
claim your spouse’s country of birth—provided that both you and your spouse are on the selected entry,
are issued visas, and enter the United States simultaneously. Second, if you were born in a country
whose natives are ineligible, but neither of your parents was born there or resided there at the time of
your birth, you may claim nativity in one of your parents’ countries of birth if it is a country whose natives
qualify for the DV-2011 program

You can claim your parents' country of birth, and I am sure that would be Sudan. So don't worry at all.

Yeah both my parents were born in sudan , thank you very much ......please would you provide me with the link that mentions this
 
You can't claim your parents' country of birth unless you can prove they were in Saudi Arabia as temporary residents (tourists, students, etc.). Either way, I think you should go with it and see if you win. Worry about this stuff later because you can't do anything about it.

See brother, now whatever has happened, has happened. You can't do anything about it. All these things would be considered only if you win the DV-2014. Don't get stressed out right now, wait till you win it. And you cannot apply for DV-2014 again, because you would get disqualified. Just pray that you win the DV-2014.

Exactly, so you may NOT use their country of birth BECAUSE they were residents in your country of birth. I realise it's confusing, but either way, you can't keep worrying about this.
