i already have a DL after getting my one year temporal work permit but it is only valid for a year. so now that i have my 2 year green card can i go and get a new one and how long would this one be valid 2 or 4 years? thanks for the help

You can get your DL renewed. I don't know if they'll notice that your card is conditional, unless conditional cards look different apart from the date, so you might get a full DL.

No need to get another DL if it still has several months of validity. Renew it when it is about to expire.

Different states have different rules for that. Some will make the license expire when the GC expires, others will give you the full 4 years or 6 years or whatever the max is for that state.

Not really. Once you move to another country (at least in Europe), you can only use your foreign licence for 6 months to 1 year before being required to apply for a local one, just like when you move from one state to another, you must apply for a local licence. Some countries in Europe also have licences valid for life.

Sorry I should have clarified. The AZ or XYZ license would then serve as a license whenever I visit US.

A US license ceases to be valid when you are no longer a resident.
This is exactly the problem with US driving licences. Instead of being just that - a licence to drive, the state DLs are used as the primary form of ID and as a proof of state residence. Thus, if you move out and then come back, the licence ceases to be valid even to drive. I would much rather see a separate licence to drive (and drive only) and a separate ID card that serves as the identification document (and nothing else).
