I became a United States citizen (after 2 1/2 years as a PR)

When can I submit application for citizenship??

Hi all,
I remember someone posted the time line before, but I couldn't find it.
Anyway, my question is, when can I submit/file for my citizenship? I received my GC in August 2005 (Resident since 2004).

Would appreciate if anyone of you could let me know.

Thanks!
Devi

4 years + 9 months after the day on you Green Card. I think you can apply around May 2009.

Thanks, everyone! DIdn't even realize that I 'posted a reply' in the very post that already answered my question :)

So here's another question: If I marry a USC later this year, would it make me eligible to apply for citizenship right away, since my residence is since August 2004? Or do I have to live with him for a few years before I'm eligible to do so?

No you are not eligible.

You need three years of green card status and during those three years you must have been married to a citizen.
