Folks,

Yes its true! I became a Proud Citizen of the United States of America! The oath ceremony was scheduled for later this month but got advanced to coincide as close as possible to 9/11.

The ceremony was at 2pm and we were asked to report by 1pm at the Federal courthouse. US Marshalls who provide security to Federal Judges, screened us for security and let us in.

The CIS folks showed us our Natz Certificates and confirmed it appeared ok (name/dob etc).. They also took away my Green Card!

At 2pm, the Chief Dist Court Judge came and gave a beautiful speech about US Citizenship. Then we had a roll call and they called each of us and we stood up in order. After we were standing they administered the Oath and then the judge conferred Citizenship upon us. There were about 30 of us in all and wonder be wonders, I was the only Desi (Indian). I took a lot of pictures to mark the special occasion.

Then they called each one of us and handed out Naturalization Certificates along with a US Flag and badge (that incidentally said 'Made in China'!!). After that we had to recite the Pledge and then we were free Citizens!!

I am very very happy today, and I *MUST* thank so many people in this forum. A LOT of what I know about CZ is from here!! I waited a long time for my namecheck to be completed and went to some pain but feel vindicated now!

I love you all...

I will be sticking around for a while in this forum, (I need to sponsor my fiance , to whom Im gona get married to - next month) so I will need info on DCF/K3 etc... I will also provide my 'advice' on topics I know a bit.

Special word of gratitude to St Albans District Office for their amazingly quick turnaround time, once name check was cleared.

Thank You VT Congressman Bernie Sanders, Thank You FBI Asst Director William Hooton.

Congrats. It's all over for you now. What do you do with your free time now ;)

Thanks JoeF. You in particular have been very helpful, I would have applied 90 days prior (4+1 rule) if not for you...

I plan to de-trollify the board (if needed) in my spare time :) Enjoy!

Congratulations Rahul ..
It's good to see and share your happiness ..
Hopefully, we'll all be in the same position soon..
Unfortunately immigrants have 2 weddings when they come to the US, one is to their real wife/husband, and the other to the USCIS, a journey that never ends for one need or another ..
sure you won't miss worrying anymore ..?

Take care and eat a lot of ladoos at your wedding ..!
Mota hon ke wapas aaja ..

cheers ..

Question for JoeF or Rahul (90 days prior (4+1 rule))

What do you mean by "I would have applied 90 days prior (4+1 rule) "? Could you please shed some light, i have no idea..
Thanks

When you exit the country for > 1 yr and return you can apply 4years+1 day since. In normal cases you can apply 90 days prior to 5 year's of PR. You cant however apply
90 days prior to 4 years + 1 day
