I am planning to write something about asylees' life

As an asylee waiting for adjusting status:

1) As of today, how long have you been living in US, legally or illegally?
2) As of today, how long have you been waiting for becoming a US permanent resident since applied for asylum?

Myself:
Entered US in 08/1991
Applied asylum in 03/1993
ND 08/2001, exact 10 years after entered US

I am now planning to write an article or even a book (in my own language) about our miserable life in this greatest country in the world. Please support and tell us your story.

Thank you!

Thank you but no thank you...

Sadasylee, I know your intentions are good but I personally wouldn't like to share let alone publish what I ent through. Like your name suggests, it makes me a sad asylee every time I think about it.
May be you'll find someone who will. Without our stories, if you are just interested in the dates, that ain't gonna sell your book.

then let me add some more questions:

* How long have you been separated with your faimly because of your uncertain status in US?
* What kinds of difficulties or even miseries have you been gonig through in these years of case pending and GC waiting?

Please try to write it in English instead that in your own language because that will not help us.

Really no misery that you spoke of. Life an asylee is pretty good compared to what we went thru back home.

We have a choice

As an asylees, if life gets too rough here. We all have a choice to go back where you came from and get killed in our own country.

My story wouldn't be very impressive since I've got my asylum status less than in a year after enering U.S.

Mine too won't be impressive because I got asylum status within few months I entered US. I did much better during the last five years which I never imagined possible. Yes, it feels terrible to wait for a GC and live in legal limbo, but that never hinders me from achieving American dream. With the recent changes in asylum laws (removal of cap, settlement, and backlog reduction initiative by BCIS), I am feeling very optimistic about the future than ever. I know for fact how asylees in some other countries are suffering. We should see the positive side of being asylee in US.

Thanks

Thank you Borntwice. It is so nice to hear someone with the positive outlook and being appreciative for what we have in this country.

Most asylees are not whiners. They realize how fortunate they are and treasure their opportunity to reach their full potential here.

I'd also like to hear happy stories. Feel free to share your wonderful experiences.

I fully understand there are no unconditionally equal rights at every corner in the world. Some of us have spent a decade or more to be accepted, and others used a few months. The longer you stay here, the more tax you pay, the more contribution you make to this country, and the more rights you are supposed to have – wait, this is not the case for many of us.

I love this great country, but it is hard for me to appreciate its system. One thing is for sure: In my life I won’t send my kids to the battle fields to fight for US because the freedom I got from it is greatly discounted by its dirty politics.

You will have no choice if there is a draft.

Are they talking about the draft? I heard that it may happen in the future if the things go the way they go now. People don't want to serve in Iraq But, man... I don't want to fight either.

There have been some under the radar rumbling about it, but nothing serious. I think we can handle Iraq with an all volunteer army. But a draft would be needed if we decided to go to war with N. Korea or if we came to Taiwan's aid in the event of a Chinese invasion. These two contingencies are possible.

For all the f@ckers who don't like it in US, think life after getting asylum is miserable, and blame US for it why don't you get the f@ck out of here to the shitholes you came from and claimed asylum (or go to canada ...french stinking side) You're so f@cking disgusting....

My dear friend Samoel,

This country needs you badly at present time. Go ahead to join the army to make your contribution to the country you love so much. You will become a citizen as soon as you join the army. So why not?

Have a wonderful holiday. Take your time to f@ck your wife if you have one. Otherwise, f@ck yourself :D :D

Forum,

If the shoplifter Runaway Bride from Atlanta, GA can get 1/2 a mil for her story, why can't sadassylee work on his/her's.

What's the name of NBC female host? KATIE COURIC, I hope I got it correct. She'd be the person to contact.

MK

:D :D :D :D :D

I am really sorry to hear that you waited for so long just to get your asylum approved. I dont think you'll have any use of my example, I've got mine PA approved in five months from the date application was signed, dated, sent.
On top of everything, Federal Govenment of this Great Country gave me the money to go to school. Where in the world you'll get $$,$$$.$$ when your immigrant status is not clear yet? Find me just one. In my old country, my phisical exsistance was threatened, and I couldn't do it anywhere else. We all have different stories, but generaly speaking and I do appologise for taking that freedom - we are much better off here, instead wherever we coming from. So bite the bullet and wait, your time will come. Thanx.
