Hi everyone,
I am about to file for asylum.I came to the U.S on F-1 and attended a semester then stopped.I have been working off-campus with my social security. Will my asylum be denied because of that?I was advised to not mention it on the form but am scared they might find out.should I do it that way or mention it in the form?PLEASE HELP.

You should always be honest with USCIS when answering questions on any USCIS forms. Any USCIS form you submit becomes part of your alien file and that alien file will remain with USCIS forever. They can review your alien file anytime in the future even after you become a US citizen. It is always better for you to have correct/honest answer on every single question for all USCIS forms.

please dont lie!!! that will only get you in trouble.
btw, i filled for my asylum in february 2011 and in my applications i stated that im employed, i even wrote what company at. so far, that hasnt had any affect on my applications or my employment whatsoever. i have a 2 year old i have to support, and im pretty sure they would rather have me working than receiving any government/state benefits. my individual hearing is next month, hope it goes well.

keep us posted! :)
take care

Immediately find someone else to help you! Please report that person on form EOIR-44.

If a full year has passed then you won't qualify for asylum and will have to meet a HIGHER standard and burden of proof for withholding (WOR) of CAT relief. Do not delay any longer. If you don't know what those acronyms mean, you are in even deeper doo-doo.

One other thing, in order to get a student visa in the first place you had to show an intent to return home, financial ability, ties to home. Remembering that and then viewing what you did: barely attending school and working illegally, you appear to just another "economic refugee" that will not qualify for asylum.
