Wow that was quick! I guess I should have sent my police clearance with my applicationDon Chinche said:No, it doesn't take a lawyer to apply for PR. I got advised by one to do it, and it went fine.
Was I supposed to send the police clearance?? Probably not, but I did it.
Bottom line, if something is missing in your application, you will be asked for it.
my timeline:

Sent I-485 (with Police clearance ): oct/2005
I-485 Approved (for having sent police clearance ): oct 6/2006

Wow...you both are very lucky! And think she has the record for the fastest case approved!! I wish there was some consistency with their approval.Don Chinche said:If you think that my time line was quick, you should see my wife's:
Asylum approved: jun/2005
I-485 sent: oct/2006
GC received: 01/2007
Her case was transfered from NSC to TSC.
She had to wait over 2 years for her asylum interview, though.
Don Chinche said:I imagine they put all cases in a big pile, and pull them out at random.. We were lucky we got ours approved really quick, my wife's specially, but still it is not fair for many of you that have been waiting, and waiting for a loooong time...
I don't know if this is purely coincidential, but like 2 weeks before my case was approved I started a conversation via email with someone from NSC..
I was inquiring on the status of my case, and they were saying that cases were processed in the order in which they're received.. I told them that I knew of lots of people that submited their I-485 after I did, and were already GC holders, and asked for an IO direct phone number.. They kept refering me to the 1800 number, and I kept telling them that they don't know sh$%, and also told them that I knew of people that sued USCIS, and mysteriously their cases were dramatically expedited, so that seemed to be the only option for people whose cases have been delayed..
When I sent the last email saying that, they replied to me something like "your case is being reviewed now", and on the next day it was approved..
By the way, It never crossed my mind suing USCIS, I just was trying to be dramatic with them..
Good luck everyone.
Thanks Don Chinche. I'll give it a try.Don Chinche said:Here it goes:
