I-140 withdrawal after Green card

Its been nearly 2.5 years since I received my GC thru previous employer (schedule A category back then). I worked for him for more than 6 moths AFTER receiving GC and of course was working for him before as well at the time he applied for GC and through out GC proecessig period.

Today out of no where I received an email from that company that they are withdrawing my I-140 and said if I havenʼt received Permanent Resident Card, I should have my current employer port I-140 to maintain a lawful status. Seems like generic email they have sent to many such people.

Although I think he shouldn't be able to do any damage by withdrawing I-140, I am still baffled what he is trying to do after 2.5 year of GC approval. I haven't been following up USCIS sites after GC approval so not sure of recent USCIS laws, regulations in regard to this especially.

Please advise if you have any knowledge about this situation.

Thanks,

My old I-140 sponsor was acquired in late 2007, and a few weeks later I saw an update on my I-140 on the USCIS site. I guess someone was doing a review of all immigration paperwork and wanted to tie up some loose ends by formally notifying USCIS about every employee no longer at the company.

Is that something to worry about? please let me know.
