How will you celebrate getting your GC?

sillyman...normally i laugh at most of your posts and i can understand your frustration and directing some of that at bush, however the bush article while it's attempt is obviously to discredit him, it is in fact very slanderous, inferential, misleading and really distorted bullshit taking half-truths, or attempting to blame him for programs that were already in progress from previous administrations or attributing to him things that are of global nature etc etc etc.

it's emotive, misleading, distorted and a very crappy attempt to assassinate his character.

Past work experience:

* Ran for congress and lost. do you know how many times Lincoln ran and failed to get elected, I think it was 7 times
* Produced a Hollywood slasher B movie. who cares, clinton gets a blowjob from very young intern, several times in the whitehouse
* Bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas, company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. distortion, half -truth
* Bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using tax-payer money. Biggest move: Traded Sammy Sosa to the Chicago White Sox. emotive terms "sweetheart deal" meant to cheapen his business dealings, traded a good player away, like no other team has ever done that
* With fathers help (and his name) was elected Governor of Texas. meant to discredit, inference only because of his father

Accomplishments:

* Changed pollution laws for power and oil companies and
made Texas the most polluted state in the Union. untrue, the latest smog report has los angelas and orange county as still the smog captial, emotive, not disclosing all the facts of the changed legislation, meant to get the response, he only favors oil co's power co's and doesn't care about the environment but fails to mention what exactly was changed and why the laws were ludicrous
* Replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog ridden city in America. simply not true, this just came out again last week as a fact, and even if it were true, how did he do it anyway? it might have more to do with migration trends, population growths of a city and wind/basin characteristics not an individual
* Cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government to the tune of billions in borrowed money. funny i don't recall any state in the union being bankrupt, running deficits yes, but clearly emotive and which state in the union is not in deficit?
* Set record for most executions by any Governor in American history. some would say this is a good thing, ask the little girls family that had their daughter raped several times then dismembered by a sicko if this is a good thing
* Became president after losing the popular vote by over 500,000
votes, with the help of my fathers appointments to the Supreme Court. this is pure emotional bullshit, "help of my fathers appointments" to win the election, to suggest it was political is amazing and in fact the democrats were banking on their appointed judges to go against bush, didn't happen. As to the 500,000 votes, that is a paper thin difference, effectively it is a dead heat, which the election was, however why would you use the concept of popular vote, the electoral system is not popular vote, he won it by the system in place, by state electoral college. To state the rules of a game and then say to the winner, well if we ran it this way you wouldn't have won is idiotic

Accomplishments as president:

* Attacked and took over two countries. distortion, did not "take over", this is such bullshit
* Spent the surplus and bankrupted the treasury. this is the clinton legacy, check the facts
* Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history. clinton again, but also each successive year the economy grows and budget surpluses and deficits will always be bigger, very misleading
* Set economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12 month period. see above, legacy of clinton
* Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market. clinton legacy, however in percentage terms no, point terms yes, more emotive bullshit
* First president in decades to execute a federal prisoner. and this is a problem?
* First president in US history to enter office with a criminal record. i assume this is dui?
* First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in US history. again to be emotive
* After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over the worst security failure in US history. this was bush's personal fault? when clinton had the chance to get bin laden why didn't he? this was worse than pearl harbor?
* Set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips than any
other president in US history. at least he is earning it the right way, remember the clintons who turned the white house into their fundraising "hotel"
* In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job. legacy of clinton
* Cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any president in US history. distortion, funny i remember him extending the benefit time frame for those unemployed
* Set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12 month period. clinton legacy
* Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions
than any president in US history. this is distorted bullshit
* Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television. meant to distort again, is this a problem? did other presidents use this as an election tool? give me a break
* Signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any president in US history. and the point is?
* Presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to intervene when corruption was revealed. really....this is just misleading bullshit
* Presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have. misleading - in relative terms it was not the highest, it was not a "crisis" and the reserves are there for real threats, imagine if during the iraq war we couldnt get oil and we had no reserves because we depleted them for the simple reason the gas price was high, that would be irresponsible
* Cut healthcare benefits for war veterans. very immotive
* Set the all-time record for most people worldwide to
simultaneously take to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind. sign of democracy to protest, countries are freer now than at any time in history to protest, more people now than anytime in history, numbers or always grossly inflated by protest organizers, who cares(http://www.hyperreal.org/~dana/marches/)
* Dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history. there are more treaties now than ever, is this a bad thing? what were the reasons to disolve the treaties, maybe it's better in the us interests, very emotive crap again
* My presidency is the most secretive and un-accountable of any in US history. this is pure bullshit
* Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. (the 'poorest' multi-millionaire, Condoleeza Rice has an Chevron oil tanker named after her). [this is the richest generation ever to walk the earth, has nothing to do with bush[/b]
* First president in US history to have all 50 states of the Union simultaneously go bankrupt. untrue bullshit, no state has gone bankrupt
* Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world. unfactually true, check history, also these excesses were a clinton legacy
* First president in US history to order a US attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation. untrue and distorted
* Created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States. definetly untrue, this is a legacy that only the democrats can hold for the generations of wanting bigger government
* Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any president in US history. and in the future the increases will be bigger, fact of a growing nation, again a distortion

i'm getting tired of going through this bullshit....but you get my obvious point how this is a pure crap amatuerishly distorted article

gettingclosernow,

While I understand that things look different depending upon which side of the political spectrum you prefer to see, commenting by saying Bullshit or again to be emotive , distortion or legacy of clinton doesn't really refute any of SillyMan's points.

Besides it was not really an aggressive post, just an attempt at political humour.

* Ran for congress and lost. do you know how many times Lincoln ran and failed to get elected, I think it was 7 times
* Produced a Hollywood slasher B movie. who cares, clinton gets a blowjob from very young intern, several times in the whitehouse

Din't quite understand your point of view in the above two statements becasue all SillyMan was pointing out to was facts. So what if Lincoln lost 7 times? Doesnt change the fact that Bush lost as well.

* Bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas, company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. distortion, half -truth

Hardly a distortion, it is a fact. I remember reading an article that went into this in great detail, and listed the names of the people who bought W's block of shares and they just happened to be Bush Sr.'s greatest campaign contributors. Accidental? I don't think so!

* Bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using tax-payer money. emotive terms "sweetheart deal" meant to cheapen his business dealings, traded a good player away, like no other team has ever done that

Oh so true, there were serious allegations that there was fraud somewhere because the team was bought at under 30 % fair market evaluation!

* Set record for most executions by any Governor in American history. some would say this is a good thing, ask the little girls family that had their daughter raped several times then dismembered by a sicko if this is a good thing

I would say you are paroting the good ole lynch mob mentality. Are you aware that Illinois Governor George Ryan put a moratorium on all execution because so many innocent prisioners were on death row? That FBI lab technician Jacquelyn Blake was caught fabricating DNA evidence? I don't know about you, but don't you think executing someone is something extremely permanant? Infact I would go as far to say, your statement on asking innocent girls who had been raped ... as a pulling emotional cords rather than putting forth a good argument! In other words pure emotional BULLSHIT!

* Became president after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes[/quotes]

What SillyMan din't get into was how the state's Governor was W's brother and pulled so hard to not count the chads.

* Attacked and took over two countries. distortion, did not "take over", this is such bullshit

You are right he did not take over, instead, tore the country apart and then refused to invest American troups to hold the country together.

I am extremely tired of going through your bullshit now, I just want to end on a couple of questions.

When the US troups took over Bagdad, how come every ministry, every museum, even the hospitals were allowed to be looted except the Minstry of oil?

And the biggest question of all, WHERE ARE THE WEAPONS OF MASS DISTRUCTION? What happened to the terrific evidence that Powell presented to the UN counsil, I quoteo "the case against Iraq is solid. Everything we had there had backup and double-sourcing and triple-sourcing".

Offcourse this is COMPLETELY OFF-TOPIC and way out of line for even this off-topic thread, but your accusations were extremely strong! And deserved a response! Don't just take off on someone because of your political ideology.

you guys are good

Wish I had filled in california. You guys are good. TSC (my service centre) is very slow and boring.
I will like to visit your forum more than TSC's.
Well I will open a restaurant after I get my GC.

seems this is House of democrats and republicans are free to express there feelings. But overall enjoyed every bit of it.

actually my intention is to marry J Lo!

(not my intention to flame you....just to put a different spin on the writing that was politically motivated by it's creator)

SPAM

*sigh* waiting for the green card has made SillyMan delusional! ;) It is not a dog you have, but a chimp! :)

Regardless, are you up for some chillin' this weekend? Will call you later to fix plans for Sunday if you are interested!

silly man & gettingclosernow...

as a fine, upstanding midwesterner (basically, caught under NSC jurisdiction), i have to say that i find this california funk refreshing. i read silly man's post on dubya's resume, and gettingclosernow's response to it.

while it is true that one cannot help but put a spin on things that is reflective of one's point of view (case in point: foxnews' "fair and balanced" news reportage), it shouldn't be beyond an average thinking person's ability to separate the wheat from the chaff.

gettingclosernow categorized silly man's comments as anti-bush diatribe. yet, one wonders, what manner of atrocities must somebody commit when people might allow criticism without branding it "emotive bullshit" or "half-truth"? certainly, no american president has ranked with hitler, stalin or saddam, and hopefully never will. the best of the worst we can expect is watergate, or whitewater.

whitewater had brought out the ann coulters from under the woodwork. clinton's sexual pecadillos aside, whitewater bedevilled clinton's presidency to the end. the clintons were not even directly involved in that deal, and the actual sum of money involved was picayune compared with bush's stock deal. would gettingclosernow describe the conservative attitude toward bill clinton as comprising of "emotive bullshit" and "half-truths"?

speaking of bush's shady stock deal, i wonder if any of you recall how quickly the story fell off the radar screens? martha stewart found herself drawn and quartered because of allegations of insider trading. wouldn't you agree that the possibility involving an incumbent president profiteering in the near past to the tune of millions of dollars while letting other shareholders down would have been too juicy a tidbit for the newsmongers to pass up? perhaps not as juicy as a blowjob in the oval office.

i am also curious how gettingclosernow would define "obstruction of justice". remember enron? did the vice president cough up the documents pertaining to his dealings with enron?

what about civil rights, and rule of law? how many instances can gettingclosernow think of an attorney-general overruling a federal court's decision, and an administration's outright refusal to abide by a court's ruling?

i wonder if any of you have read george orwell's classic animal farm? on so many occasions in the recent past, i have been reminded of those sheep in the farm who would obsequiously bleat whatever tune their masters wanted to hear. the mainstream media and press have embraced the the official rhetoric from the white house so lovingly that it is actually scary. i can readily absolve most common people, who cannot even find iraq on the map, for swallowing whatever the media was ramming down their throats. but when foxnews set the war to music, in their "sights and sounds of the war in iraq", i couldn't help feeling that this gung-ho mentality had gone too far. this, to me, was the ultimate grotesquery of this war; either that, or that story of the little iraqi boy whose entier family and both his arms accounted for "collateral damage", to which, incidently, passing references were made by cnn pretty late in the night, and not even found worthy of airtime by foxnews. however laudable the aim of removing saddam hussain from power, didn't we start out hunting for bin laden? when did the war against terrorism make the leap of faith to liberate iraqis from tyranny?

i am certainly not blaming the media's shortcomings on the present administration. what i cannot absolve the present adminstration of is fostering an ethos where presidents and vice presidents can get away with not telling the truth about their business dealings, where attorney generals supplant the courts as the ultimate lawgivers, where people who dare question are branded unpatriotic, and where any kind of bullcrap fed out by the government as long as it has "national security" somewhere in it is eagerly gobbled up the opinion leaders.

sure dubya didn't do all that. his being there did.

As a matter of statistics, in a poll, 70 % of American kids could only correctly place NY city and the state of Texas on the map. Only 23 % could place LA and SF. I think Iraq is a little too taxing for their minds!

It was also interesting to note that not a single senior administration officer has served in the armed forces excluding Colin.

But this is not a political discussion forum, and I appologise for the spam! Would be nice if you guys delete your posts from this thread! I will delete all of my non-thread specific posts in the next 24 hours.

Thanks!

Good posting Pork Chop.
Probably Fox news is just "balanced" for American people - just like balanced diet to where you need to keep yourself away from certain types of the foods (certain types of truths). It's not "news" but "opinioned news" where they themselves (or Pentagon) insert their views and present it as news.
BTW, it was pathetic to see those embedded photo-journalists who are even not allowed to pan their camera.

Pork Chop, you sound so smart .. what are you doing in Nebraska?

I bet that none of you will celebrate your GC in any way other than maybe a drink with friends when you get the card - we've all been waiting for soo long that it'd be just a deserved thing, in our pockets after a long wait. Nothing else.

Let me tell you this - I had to serve 12 months obligatory military service during former Yugoslavia. We all had "counters" - variations of words and letters made up of 365 squares, checking one off every day. At the beginning I never even thought about the day I'd be free to go, but as 3 went to 2 and 2 to 1, we all dreamed about being released early, there were always rumors about shortening of service length an similar ("officers of promotion, whores of chastity and soldiers of service shortening). I remember quite clearly that I never wanted anything in the world more than just getting out early. So when the counter went to 0, it seemed like nothing special, just a well-deserved thing. I'd been waiting for so long that it was no special treat after all. Same with our GCs - we'll get them one day, better to forget about the GC until one day the approval notice comes in mail....
