How long can a H1 visa holder stay out of USA on vacation

Hello,

I worked for 4 months with an employer B after he filed my H1 transfer petition. It got approved in August `06. I came to India after getting my new H1 and I am planning to stay here till Feb `07. Is it advisable to do so or it will leed to any issues.

Do you have a H1 stamp in the passport? Are you recieving "vacation" pay from your employer? If answer to either of these 2 questions are NO, then your H1 (since you converted from B) is suspect.

Previously I had H1 from another employer A. Now I have a H1 from emploer B. The H1 stamp I have on my passport is from employer A. It expires in Sept 2007 and my new H1 from employer B expires in 2009(not yet stampped).

This is not a paid vacation. Hope this should not be a problem.

If that is not paid vacation, what is it ?
Is there employment relationship between you and company B though the time ?
