I am filling out N-400 and have a question on the Affiliation portion.

Need to find out how important is it to be comprehensive in listing affiliations with all the societies, clubs or organizations that I was member of in all my 15 years of being a Green Card holder?

I am particularly concerned about listing all the Religious organizations because my concern is that this list will be negatively held against me?

Could others please share what their feedback on this would be?

Better to list it now. If they find it out later and it turns out to be bad, you could possibly face de-naturalization. As long as you and the organization is not on their watch list, you should be ok.

I too think that you need to be honest and to provide a complete list. I don't see why belonging to a religious organization would be held against you but, in any event, concealing a material fact now could potentially lead to problems later.

I'm not sure about that either. I've listed the Red Cross because I'm a volunteer with them, but what else? No religious affiliations. I signed up for clubs in college, like the College Democrats, but I didn't really DO anything with them.

So, I'm not going to bother with this section, really, because I haven't been affiliated with any controversial organisations (unfortunately).

Look at it this way: it's your opportunity to disclose any terrorists or subversive organizations you belong to. If you don't belong then you wouldn't list them. Also, no need to list civic organizations you belong to like AAA, Red Cross, Democratic party, etc...

Is it possible for a non-citizen to register with a U.S. political party?

It wasn't the party with which I was affiliated, just the university group. I never officially registered with the party.

If you are not officially registered with a group, there is no need to disclose. Just volunteering for some group does not make you the member of the group. Providing unnecessary details complicate your case. You should be honest on your application, but do not go an extra mile to create troubles for yourself.

I was wondering if you have to list your affiliation to honor societies on N-400? Is that what they want or would it look weird if I listed such stuff? I mean it has no effect on naturalization and I don't want them to think I want to brag. What do they want to see in that section exactly?
