A guy i was talking to last night (green card holder) was telling me that he regularly goes back to Europe for extended periods and does it by driving or train to Canada (using state issued id if needed at the border) he then flies from Canada to Europe and returns the same route? He was telling me that this avoids the US government being aware he has left the country?
Is this right or is he just trying to seem clever (which is the impression i got)

????

I heard canadian and the US official could share the manifest.
If the US government is serious, they can find it easily anyway.

I guess he thinks that the Canadians do not share their border crossing data with the United States. He's mistaken.

He's asking for trouble...

mr. Not Confused....

You friend is going to be left with one nut.... It might appear as if he is prospering with his antics, but soon enough, his balls will be on fire with USCIS. I can't wait to see his application for naturalization, which he has to declare all those overseas trip..... Oh... he's just going to lie his way into the USCIS and get busted big time...

Lastly, US and Canada share most intelligence data than any two countries in this hemisphere, so he is warned....:(

I lived in Washington and my wife used to live in Vancouver, I crossed the border almost weekly for about a year, I can tell you that immigration is absolutely aware of your friend's "clever scheme". If you are PR and go to Canada with a lot of luggages, they will get suspicious. I once tried to bring some stuffs for my wife for storage and was turned back because you are not supposed to be carrying someone else's luggages. I considered myself lucky that they let me off. I am Asian and I usually have 50% chance of getting pull-over, I've had my car checked countless times and have to go to the office so they can check "stuffs" on the computer and my passport to see if I go back to some Asian countries for long period of time. Maybe your friend is white and go to Europe, that's why he gets away with it. Let's see if he gets into trouble when he try to naturalize.
