Hiding a relationship between a US citizen and an Argentine citizen?

wheezie

New Member
I have been seeing a guy from Argentina that has been a US citizen now for 10 years. He is divorced from an American woman and they have joint custody of their 4 year old son.
I recently found out (had suspicions for about a year or so) that there is a girl in Argentina that he has some type of relationship with. I emailed her and asked what their relationship was. She told me that they were in love and going to get married. I asked him if this was true and he would not answer me. After 2.5 years he will not speak to me now. There is something fishy here, and it appears that he is hiding the relationship with her for some reason...no pictures of them together on their Facebooks, hiding her profile on his messenger...etc.... Can you tell me why someone would do that if he is planning on bringing her here to marry? It appears that they are conduction some type of clothing, jewerlry business long distance, would this have something to do with it? I really need some ideas here?
Thank you kindly to anyone that may assist me here.

What exactly are you asking? What you described sounds like a personnel matter between you and your ex-boyfriend rather than anything related to US immigration.

You should write to Dr. Phil or may be Obra (not sure the spelling)

Dr. Phil here....

It is illegal for your boyfriend to marry this woman from Argentina, especially if he has never hiked the Appalachian mountains... In addition, Congress recently passed a law aptly named, Mark Sanford Act, illegal for anyone to marry a woman from Argentina while a governor...lol!!!

Im sorry

I am asking if there would be a reason to hide a relationship with a US citizen and an Argentine in order for this woman to gain citizenship. I'm sorry, but I was just trying to give some information so it would be understood what I was asking. What I want to know is what are the "marriage rules" for an immigrant to come to the US to marry, and how long would it take? I guess I am trying to find out if they are doing something illegal.

I'm sorry if some of you think this is not a valid question, but it is important to me to find out, I haven't disclosed the whole story. There is a child involved and I wanted some advice.

So you're asking if there's a reason for him to hide his relationship with his Argentine girlfriend in order that she can later marry him and obtain a US immigration benefit?? Does she currently come to visit him in the US as a visitor, or is she currently living with him in the US?

You mentioned that this is out of concern of his 4 year old son (unless there's another child you're referring to). Are you by chance trying to get back at him since he lied to you and hasn't spoken to you in 2.5 years?

Wheezie:

If this guy is not married as of today, then the law does not prevent him from filing a fiance visa for his Argentine girl and bring her to the US and then marry her. Either he wants to hide his paramour from his friends/family and you OR he probably isn't serious about her and wants to create no record until he is.

Yes, that is exactly what I am asking. Thank you. When most people get engaged they tell the world, and yet this seems to be a big secret for some reason. Yes, it may have been hidden from me, but now that I am aware, what other reason would they have to hide it? Possibly doing something illegal? No she has never been to the US that I know of. The 2.5 years is how long that I have been with him--not since I have seen him. My biggest concern here is his 4 year old son from his previous marriage.... I love him and am very close to him. I'm afraid he will try to run with back to Buenos Aires with her help. Is it true that if he were to marry her in Argentina he would lose his US citizenship? Thank you for not bashing me for my immigration ignorance.

What is the time frame and process for this "fiance visa?" Is it expensive? He has been divorced 3 years now. I don't think he is hiding it from people in Argentina, but here in the US for some reason.
Thank you kindly.

Why would someone lose US citizenship by marrying a foreigner, whether marrying in US or in Argentina, or a third country? You said he is US citizen for last 10 years ... very hard for them to take it back unless he rebels against the country.

If he is divorced 3 years and "found/married" her as soon as he divorced, I am sure she will be in US by now.
If he has a valid Argentinian visa / dual citizenship, he can run off to Argentina without issues. Nothing you can do to stop it ... on this basis.

The reason people are bashing you is because you are giving them the opportunity. On the face of it, you are mixing personal matters with immigration matters and trying to find a way to get back at him.
