I was a regular here for a while during my process of citizenship. I went to my interview on Nov of 2009, and passed the test etc. At the interview a little issue from back 5 years came up and the officer needed more proof or my record being clear. Well after sending my proof and more, never got anything back from them. I called a million times, no one ever had an answer. One day in February I receive a letter saying that the case I was inquiring about was denied (this was not even the denying letter from my case). This letter was a response from them for one of my calls asking what was going on with my case, imagine that! Anyway, I was so sad, my time to appeal was gone and I had no answer why my case was denied. I thought well next year I will apply again. While all this was happening my green card expired (because I was waiting for my desicion they told me I didn't need it to re-new it and I had applied within the 6 month of expiration date). Ok, so I start my process for renewal, I go get the fingerprint etc. Attention my citizenship process started 7/31/09, my interview was 11/2009, in 2/2010 I get a letter saying I was inquiring on a case that was denied, I NEVER got a denied letter. I apply for renew of green card in 3/2010 get fingerprint and everything. AND ONE DAY OUT OF THE BLUE IN 6/2010 I get an OATH LETTER TO BE THERE IN 2 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what happened here LOL??????????????? I'm so lost!!!! BUT hey I'm happy this is finally over and I finally get to be a citizen!

I just wanted to share my crazy story ;)

Good Luck to everyone on here! =)

Does the denial and oath letter have your A# on it?

My oath letter does. I never got the official denying letter. I got a letter responding for my inquiring on my case because I kept calling asking for the status of it. That letter said that I was inquiring on a case that was denied. At that point I gave up and thought well I will apply again next year for my citizenship.

Yes. My mom said that when I applied for the renewal of the green card someone looked at my file and made this happen. To be honest I don't know and I don't care, all I know is that I'm finally done with this.....in two weeks =)

Congratulations buddy.....reading your story, I was expecting you are gonna say that your greencard was denied because your citizenship was denied...whatever happenned, nice ending,,,and what a relief...these things do happen...I was assisting last a friend who told me that he had applied greencard
in 2006, and he still waiting for a response...each time inquires, he get case in process response...and a couple of months ago, he got an I-90 reciept from the uscis indicating that had lost his greencard and he applied for replacement. The guy says he never applied got greencard and never applied for replacement. When I checked the online status for the I-90 it says they had denied the I-90 on June 4. The guy is confused; hopefully, he will get his greencard through the mail.....again congratulations....

Sounds to me that when you inquired about your case they took down the wrong A#, and the wrong A# happened to be for a case that was denied.
Just make sure that when you get your naturalization certificate it has your name and correct A# on it.

.

I doubt it.

I believe most likely those letters are those service request response letters. They are never useful
and it seem sthey are just written in a casual mannner to give something back to the applicants. So it is
possible that someone just thibk the case was denied and write so casually.

That could be it! Now that you said that I'm going to check that on the inquiring letter. I'm going to make the right number is in everything I get from them! Thanks! =)

Yes, that's a logical guess about what happened. And it actually benefits USCIS if they give you the oath soon instead of renewing your GC; they get to keep the renewal fee without doing the work involved for the GC renewal.

WBH- My DL expired in Feb 2010 with my Green Card, but here in AL you can legally drive for 60 days after the DL exprires. When I applied for the GC at the end of 3/10 they gave me a sticker on the back of the GC for 6 month extension, with that I got my new DL. So I never drove without a valid DL.

Can they do that? That is can they stop an pplicants's GC reneal process? a citizenship applicant is not a citizen
until oath so I don't think USCIS can just stop renewing a person's GC because that oerson si applying for citizenship

oops I messed up the date of the inquiring letter, that letter was in FEB, because I got it a few days after my GC expired. lol I'm fixing it up there on my original post.

Did you still apply for Cuban passport via Cuban Interest Section of probably Swiss Embassy/Consulate?

Yeah WBH! I already got my cuban passport too =), I took 3 months to get it but now I can go back to Cuba any time, because even if I become a citizen I still need to have the cuban passport to enter there.

They might not have stopped the renewal process. They could have just noticed that based on the application date and the queue, the next step of the OP's renewal processing would be estimated to start in July, so they could avoid that step by scheduling an oath in June and hope the OP shows up for the oath without any disqualifying issues.

That could have been it, because I applied for renewal GC in March 2010 and took the fingerprinting and I still haven't got the renewed GC. So I'm assuming they are not sending a new one, they just sent the Oath Letter.

At the time of the Oath I will present the extended GC.
