Gurus,
thanks in advance for taking the time to answer all the questions.
I worked for a for-profit company in H1B (masters degree quota).
I then transferred my visa to a not-for-profit university-and the transfer was approved.
now, I want to take up a new job with a for-profit company. Will the transfer be subject to the cap?- will I have to go through the April 1st gold-rush?
Thanks again.

If you worked for more than a year for the non-profit then yes.
How does the time worked for non-profit matter ?

to OP.
You can just transfer H1 to a new employer as you were counted under quota once.
You should not have exhausted 6 years to transfer.

There are no time requirements to be met to transfer once a person has an approved cap counted H1b, s/he can switch back and forth without any problems.

Thanks GotPR and TXH1B..
thats a relief.
NSCAgony, while I appreciate your response to my question, why did you give out false information? If you're not sure, please let someone else who is sure reply. After this is no small matter.
