Sent the app form to st. louis on 2/21/2003 (friday)
Received at st. louis on 2/24/2003 (monday)

no luck in getting through to the Dept Of State phone number yet.
(202-663-1225 option 1, 0)
Will try again tomorrow to contact an officer to get my washington receipt date.

As per the responses from saran and adevaram, it looks like it is going to take another 3 more weeks.

(I have already postponed my India trip .... was scheduled to leave on 26th Apr :mad: )

Anyways thanks folks ... this is a good forum for information.

Getting Stamping in Chennai

Hi,
Any idea how long would it take to get the visa stamped in Chennai consulate.

Please let me know if anyone has recently got stamping from Chennai.

I talked to visa officer today. They are processing the RD Date 14th Feb. Mine RD Date is 7th March so It might take 3 more weeks for me to get my VISA stamped.

Dear Guys,

I received my stamped visa today (April 25, 2003). It took almost 3 months. My employeer send it for stamping sometime during the first week of Feb, 2003.

I never called the State Department to enquire about the status. The following are the documents I send.

a. DS-156, DS-157
b. Copy of I-797
c. Passport with old and new I-94 stapled
d. Letter from employeer
e. Fed-Ex pre-paid voucher

Anyone with special registration got the visa stamped recently????

Hi!

I send in mine and my wife's passports on Apr 14th, and understand that I have to wait almost 3 months. I am from Pakistan and went through special registration in January. I heard that people from countries that require special registration are not issued visa stamps at St. Louis and they must go to a consular post in order to get a visa.

Is that true? If anyone with special registration applied recently, please let me know.

Any help is appreciated!

Called 202-663-1225 options 1, 0 on 04/25/2003 at 3:45 PM

Status:

Sent to St Louis: Jan 31st 2003 (friday)
St Louis Received date: Feb 3 2003 (monday)
DC Received date: Feb 12 2003 (Wednesday)

The oficer said it would be stamped and go out on monday so I expect to receive my PP back on tuesday (04/29/2003)

Also for wife's h4 stamping in chennai I was told to send the tax filing documents. I filed my taxes through the internet for which I just have the pdf file. Is that what I need to submit or do I need to get the tax filing details from IRS? Thanks, Sankaran

Talked to Visa officer Today

I talked to Visa officer today. They'r processing applications received in the 3rd week of Feb(DC Receipt Dt). I guess I've to wait for another 3 weeks. I've planned to travel to India on June 3rd for my wedding. I hate this last min. tension. I would probably withdraw my application in the 3rd week of May.

Called DOS this morning. Today they were not able to pull out my details. I had called twice before and they were able to pullout my details, today she just couldn't. Anybody experienced this issue? Do I need to be concerned about this? I am planning to withdraw my application on this friday.

They are processing Feb 15 DC receipt date.

Please let me know if anybody experience same issue.

When I called up before I had a similar problem. But they were able to find out atlast. The issue was they had misplace the lastname in place of firstname and viceversa.

Don't have any other info as I never bothered. The tracking information on this thread was quite enough and very helpful. Pl. keep all threads you belong to updated.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!! Can you give some hints, how did this happen. I mean, people who sent their PPs to St. Louis in the second week of Feb are still waiting and how come you got yours(as per your posting, your st louis RD 02/22/03
DC RD 03/03/03).
